Boy of the Painted Cave 1.) If Tao were to come to life and speak my language, I would be friends with him because he is brave and knows a lot about living in the wilderness. I would like to have Tao tell me the story of how he was able to face a bull by the name of Saxon, and win. 2.) One way that Tao’s character changes throughout the story is that he would not face Saxon, the bull, in the beginning but by the end, he found the courage to face Saxon. He learned a lot about courage from his friend, Graybeard, who was a cave painter. 3.) Two things Tao did that were taboo were to draw in the sand and befriend a wolf dog. 4.) Tao desperately wanted to become a Chosen One because Tao he wanted to paint on the caves. 5.) Two obstacles that Tao faced in becoming the Chosen One were that he was not born of a shaman, chief or leader and didn’t know his father so there was no elder to direct his actions. Also, he could not be a Chosen One since he had a bad foot. 6.) The reason Tao had to face Saxon was because if he ran away from the fight, the tribe would think that Tao had killed the shaman. The only way for the tribe to know the truth was to stay and fight. 7.) The role Graybeard played in Tao’s life was to be a good friend and a teacher to Tao. 8.) A mentor in my life right now is my mom because she teaches me life lessons. Examples of this are that she counsels me on how to be a good friend, how to deal with problems I may have with others and how to be a friend that can be counted on by others. 9.) In my opinion, the best part of this book is when Tao is drawing in the sand. I like this part because it teaches the idea of what is a taboo. 10.) I would recommend this book because it is very interesting, and every time you finished a chapter you wanted to keep on reading through the next. It kept my
