Marketing – Bixi – Competitors analysis There are many different competitors in the Bixi targeted market. We can identify two types: 1. “Real” companies 2. Common ways to move By real companies I mean companies, those that get profit from the daily move of peoples such as bus, subways, trains. I will emphasize each of them after. The common ways to move could be assimilate to walking, driving a car, riding another bike than a Bixi one. It seems important here to remind you that the thing, which affect the decision of people to either or not use a bike, is their geographical location. Compared to their work, school or wherever they used to go frequently. This decision is basically made based on many criteria: * The first one would be the geographical situation of the city where Bixi is active, by active I mean the elevation, the weather condition and so on. * The second one is more about ecology and how they care about the nature and the environment, as bike is one of the cleanest and more ecological way to move. Someone who really cares about this issue would be more likely to use Bixi services than another one. * The last one would be more about the person himself, I mean his age, his stamina and how likely he is to sustain his health condition. This one is more about the working out aspect of riding a bike. Based on what I said we could evaluate each competitor, to do so I will do a short analysis of each one I mentioned. I would like begin with bus and subway. In most cities the company that manage bus and subway companies are usually the same. That is why I will do only one analysis for those two.
