Carl is often shifted to his Auntie Beryl’s house which she doesn’t treat him with respect or kindness. “Who would love you if your own mother doesn’t?” Therefore Carl has a very low self-esteem and he feels very abandoned and lonely. He also feels that his mother did not love him and that he is in her way of doing what she wants to do. He is a very sad, lonely and confused fifteen year old teenager. ESSAY ‘FALLING FROM GRACE’ In the novel ‘Falling from Grace’ by Jane Godwin there are many people who are lost besides Grace. Annie is lost without her sister; Kip is lost with his emotions and doesn’t know how to deal with girls, Ted is an alcoholic who doesn’t see his wife or son and has lost his fame that he once possessed and Grace who is physically lost. It is clear that there are more characters other than Grace who are lost in ‘Falling from Grace’. Kip is the first character who is confused in ‘Falling from Grace’ for a number of reasons. Firstly he is dealing with his feelings toward girls he says “I hate those girls, but I want them.” He believes that everyone suspects him of hurting Grace he says “I didn’t understand why they seemed so angry with me, the way they looked at me but it made me feel terrible”.
Counseling compared to psychotherapy, has a shorter term of treatment and treats a specific problem or issue. Counselling encourages its client to have a change in behaviour that is causing them problems. They guide its clients to figure out the solutions to their issues on their own. Unlike coaching, it deals more with emotional and behavioural problems of its clients. And mentoring motivates its clients by sharing their own experiences to their client to help them improve their performance in the same field.
Gilbert describes Endora as “like dancing without music.” Larry, Gilbert’s older brother, is said to “have got away,” but this is not as easy for Gilbert. In psychology their six different psychological approaches, which are; behaviourist perspectives, social learning theory, humanistic perspective, cognitive perspective, psychodynamic perspective and biological perspective. Behaviourist perspective is a method that is used to change behaviour in another person; this could be through rewarding them or punishing them. In a health setting a nurse who works in a rehab centre for drug addicts maybe be working with a patient who is an extreme addict, however the nurse maybe be struggling to try and get the patient to cooperate with her because he/she just wants to see their family due to being home sick. So because the nurse already knows this she may allow the patient to visit her family but that’s only if the patient agrees to work together so that he/she can end with better result. In a social care setting a young offender who is at an institution may want their time to there to be reduced, but because there behaviour is uncontrollable then that maybe be difficult, but if the young offender finds a way to improve his/her behaviour then there social carer and police officer would probably reduce their time at the institution depending they actually make positive changes in their behaviour.
