In the case of emergency or serious situations, official documents (such as doctor notes and a letter from your boss or parents) are required. If you anticipate that you won’t be able to make class on a test day or due date, you are responsible to communicate with the instructor beforehand and make sure to follow-up by email. In ambiguous situations a 20% late deduction may be applied if the student makes an effort to promptly carry out the required work. Class assignments and assessments completed in class cannot be made up if you miss the class. D2L use and email: eLearning (Desire to Learn; D2L) will be the main communication platform for this class. Course announcements, lecture slides (in pdf), assignments, assessments and your scores will be posted on D2L website frequently. Make sure you are able to access D2L for checking messages and assignments at least twice a week. What to do if you miss a class: 1. Study the assigned textbook chapters and lecture slides for the missed lecture. 2. Discuss the questions you may have with another student who attended the lecture. Bring your official documents to secure the full credits of the missed assignments or assessments. 3. If you still have questions after having completed steps 1 and 2, then you should schedule an appointment with your instructor to have your questions answered. Steps 1-3 should be completed within three days of the missed lecture. § I DO NOT respond to emails asking for lecture slides and notes, or asking about grades and if “anything” happened in a class you missed. Withdrawal: You will not be automatically withdrawn from this course after missing a certain number of classes. If you do not want to remain in this class, it’s your responsibility to fill out an on-line or paper withdrawal form. Withdrawal from either lecture or lab may result in automatic withdrawal from the other component of the corequisite. Last day
