Bilingual interview Kendall Lee Human growth and Development Pensacola State College Bilingual interview In this interview I will be talking mostly about Spanish and how it opened many doors for my interviewee. This is a growing subject in the U.S and it is a privilege to actually be able to talk to someone and have them share with me there experience with knowing two languages and speaking both fluently! For my interviewee whom we will call “Christina” being bilingual opened up in many doors for her. Growing up in a small town called Tuskegee, Alabama she was a very outspoken child who loved to explore new things. Christina’s parents owned a barn where they had plenty of animals that Christina could play with. Christina’s favorite was the pig because she could waddle and play with “Mr. Pigs” and after she was done she could walk away and Mr. Pigs would not follow her or anything just lay there. At the age of 13 in the 8th grade Christina began to become curious about the language Spanish. Many of Christina’s Mexican friends were from a city called Jalico, Mx. The way Christina began to speak Spanish by getting a notebook and writing in English what she wanted to know and give the notebook to her friends and they would wrote back in Spanish what the word meant. Day by day Christina would study her notebook, Sound the Spanish words out and repeatedly say them. Soon enough she began to fluently speak Spanish and her classmates and parents were amazed. While in high school Christina had taken Spanish 1, 2, & 3 and aced it. This put
