Premier John Brumby is big in the spotlight at the moment after announcing that there will be a ban on entering a nightclub, pub or bar from 2am onwards. In reaction to this ban, some members the public see this ban as just outrageous while others believe t hat brumby is just out of ideas. In two articles, locals Lachlan Brown and Damien R express both their view on the subject. Lachlan argues that the new ban is just ridicules, and with a sarcastic and aggravated tone aims his article at those who enjoy the nightlife. Last night, I watched the most recent episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. One of the segments was dedicated to a clip of Obama speaking during his campaign in 2007, where he supposedly made some racist comments and was supporting class warfare. Jon Stewart’s segment pulled out a clip from FOX News, where the anchor made a comment along the lines of “People are saying this has already been reported on, but I know it hasn’t because I reported on it the first time.” This clip was the central focus of the segment because of the sheer stupidity of his comment, let alone the fact that he contradicted himself by claiming something hadn’t been done and then saying he did it. In June 2012, Fox News released a tape about Obama breaking his oath to help immigration and it seemed as if he was contradicting himself and not prioritizing it. The Fox news caster stated, before the unveiling of the tape, “Let me play this for the audience so they can understand and fully grasp here the magnitude of what he did on Friday.” Fox made it clear that they wanted the audience to “fully” grasp a lie. Stuart on the “Daily Show” showed the full tape instead of only a portion of the tape like Fox, and display to his cynical audience how deceptive Fox truly is. The full tape revealed how Obama, in reality is still prioritizing and reinforcing his beliefs, unlike how Fox interpreted it. On the “Daily Show” Stuart, after broad casting the corrupted video, used a sarcastic tone and commended Fox for showing such a shocking video and even apologize for past “mistakes” of ridiculing Fox.
