There’s lot of differences and similarities between the poem and the movie.. The story starts when the kingdom of Hrothgar was plauged for 12 yrs by a monster named Grendel. The characteristics of superhuman strength and courage are seen throughout the story of Beowulf and define why he is an epic hero. Beowulf gets these characteristics because the people want to show that only Beowulf could be the only one to defeat Grendel because everyone else who tried failed and got killed. Consequently, Beowulf’s band of soldiers all abandon him and cower in the woods. All except one soldier who was Wiglaf. “The claims of kinship can never be ignored by a right-minded man”(1083). Grandpa Bobby tells his story: some people offered him a job smuggling emeralds from South America, but later double-crossed him, tried to kill him, and stole his beloved fishing boat. Ever since then, he's been trying to track them down and get back his boat. It hurt to think that everyone thought he was dead, but it was necessary. First, he didn't want the guys he was looking for to know he was still alive; second, he also knew that if his son found out, he would, true to form, drop everything and rush down to South America without another thought. Grandpa Bobby was in a bar in a small fishing village in Colombia when he saw Paine's interview on the satellite TV.
Frankenstein and the Creature shared an uncontrollable need for vengeance. After the Creature murdered Elizabeth and Clerval, Dr. Frankenstein devoted his life to finding the Creature. He tracked him across the continent; he sacrificed himself by going through fatigue and the bitter cold which was all driven to simply get revenge on the Creature for his actions. Dr. Frankenstein even says, “revenge— a deep and deadly revenge, such as would alone compensate for the outrages and anguish I had endured” (Shelly 169). The Creature all the same was driven by vengeance during his time of existence.
Beowulf is definitely brave for fighting and living his life to protect others. For example he battles the treacherous monster Grendel in order to ensure that the rest of the village was safe from the tyranny of this beast. Despite the fact that he conquers this beast alone he was supposed to have help but was abandoned at the last second. This makes the task much more difficult for Beowulf. This quote gives certain evidence that Beowulf fights for others: “A prince of the

Her revenge for the murder of her son is first observed when she invades Heorot. Grendel’s mother is not just a monster, she is a mother who has human-like characteristics due to the fact that she is sad that her son was killed by the men. “Roared out a battle cry, a cry so loud and clear that it reached through the.....hung in the dragon’s ear. The beast rose, angry knowing that a man had come”.
