Survivors of homicide victims are those individuals who had special ties of kinship with the person murdered and thereafter, victimized not only by the loss of someone close to them but also by the horrific circumstances of that untimely death. Becoming a victim at a young age is not a pretty picture and it is a hard situation not knowing how to react once you receive the call letting you know that he was murdered. I became a victim of murder when I was only fifteen years of age. My older brother, who was my best friend and also a father figure, was murdered in cold blood at the age of twenty-three. In addition, they may demonstrate negative behavioral characteristics (clinging, demanding to be held, wanting to sleep with the parent, etc.) and regressive behavior (bedwetting, refusing to feed, wash, or dress themselves). Sleep disturbances and nightmares are also common. Changes in daily routines may be threatening. Children 6 - 10 years may exhibit radical behavior changes. They may exhibit uncontrolled behavior, poor school performance, and physical symptoms such as headaches, stomach aches, and dizziness. Play is still the primary means of expression. Trust in adults may be diminished (Suvivors of Homicide Victims). Children 11 and over are in the midst of adolescence, a confusing and troubling period. Younger adolescents may try to deny reality by suppressing their emotions and becoming judgmental about their behavior. Older adolescents become judgmental about others' behavior as well and become cautious and suspicious, especially about adults. After everything I think the victims are the last solution to the crime knowing that they are lasts people the court justice looks at. We know what happen to the one who got murdered. We know what happened to the suspect. The Victim is the one who they should focus more on. The impact statement only describes what the individual felt inside of them. But not much could be said by
