Be Good And Be Lonesome Famous author and humorist Mark Twain had once said “[b]e good and you will be lonesome”. Is it sensible to think that doing good deed will cause the feeling of isolation? In a personal opinion, this statement would be false due to the fact that having a good reputation can also result in acceptance by society. It is unlikely to assume that the doing of moral actions can automatically lead to loneliness. If someone were to drop their belongings, would it not be the common reaction to help them? With appreciation of the support, it is probable that they would do something nice to give back as well, leading to the beginning of a new bond. Although it may not expectedly happen in this way, it is the most mutual and frequently experienced in this generation. A few days ago I walked by a girl who happened to drop her notecards, and as expected, I helped her pick them up. She thanked me in a sweet tone and I told her that she was welcome, resulting in that we had lunch together the next day. To be around well-spirited people provides good company. It is also prospective to believe that, especially in this society, doing certain good things is looked down upon. The popular imagine of breaking the rules and being “too cool” has taken over the minds of teenagers throughout these recent years. Seeing a girl give out fundraising fliers for an animal shelter or school club would be considered lame, as well as how turning down an invite to an unsafe place would make one a loser. Though this is mostly depending on the type of person they seem to be, it is not the way teenagers should be viewing others. On a side note, if a student were to tell on another it would be considered an annoyance, even though it is a good deed.
