Joe Jones Rock & Roll B.B King B.B King was born on September 16th, 1925 in Berclair, Mississippi. He is known as the “King of the Blues” and “Ambassador of the Blues.” He is an American blues musician, singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is one of the most recognizable and artists of all time. Rolling Stones magazine ranked him at No. 6 on its list of the 100 greatest guitarist of all time. He is known through his hard work ethic and dedication to music. This can be seen through the amount of touring King does. He is touring at 200 to 300 shows a year. In 1956 it was noted that King appeared at 342 shows in just one year. As a guitarist, King is best known for his single-note solos while playing his Hollowbody Gibson guitar. He’s also known for his thrilling vibrato and string bends. King doesn’t play chords or slide. Instead, he bends individual strings to get a fabulous electric tone. King claims to have 15 children with many different women. He was married to Martha Lee Denton from 1942-1950 and Sue Carol Hall from 1958-1966. Both marriages are said to have broken down due to King’s exhaustive program of performances. Both of his wives couldn’t put up with the amount of time he had dedicated to the music world. His mother and father raised him. His father was Albert Lee King and mother, Nora Ella King. He also served in the US military in 1943. King began recording in 1949 and signed with the West Coast record man, Jules Bihari a year later. He would record prolifically for the Bihari Brothers’ Labels (RPM and Kent and Crown) through 1962. King’s first hit, “Three O’clock Blues,” topped the rhythm & blues chart for five weeks in 1952. Other classics of Kings were “Sweet Black Angel,” “Every Day I Have the Blues,” “You Know I Love You,” “Please Love Me,” and “You Upset Me Baby.” King later signed with ABC-Paramount in the early Sixties after
