They seem to be indifferent to the fact that they have killed someone because assassination merely becomes their ‘job.’ In a similar manner, Generals Die in Bed by Charles Yale Harrison, is inclusive of the same insensitiveness and indifference towards the death and murdering of people. The narrator says, “I lunge forward aiming at his stomach. It is a lightening, instinctive move…I become insane…I want to strike again and again.”(Harrison, 26-27) Since this was an “instinctive” move, he didn’t even think over the fact that he is taking someone’s life nor have any humane feelings which prove that he has become inhumane towards a person’s life. In addition, a humane individual would experience feelings of regret and guilt, but instead he has the urge to stab him continuously. He becomes one of the negative byproducts of the war because it causes him to become “insane” and inconsiderate towards the sentimental values associated with death.

I think that search and destroy tactics and defoliation weren’t very successful. I think they weren’t very successful because of all the negative sides the tactics caused .I feel that anyone who thinks that these tactics were a good idea, are idiots the only outcome these tactics had were death and destruction for the locals. Defoliation is where Usa planes would fly over and spray defoliants on plants or trees to uncover something. the defoliants, when sprayed on the trees, would dissolve them because the defoliants are a type of acid. Search and destroy tactics are where scouts would find a camp of Vietcong and then troops would be flown in by helicopters and they would then hit the camp quickly leaving no survivors and then get out.
Under dictatorship, many citizens feel incredible fear and deep unhappiness. Samneric from Lord of the Flies experienced both of these emotions when they were captured by Jack, and Ralph was unable to save them. Once captured, “Samneric lay looking up in quiet terror. Roger advanced upon them as one wielding a nameless authority”(p.182). Because of torture, which is common in dictatorship for
This writing was so detailed in the horrible mistreatments of the slaves that, he began to be accused of treason of his own country. His brutal descriptions of the slave’s treatment seem to prove his motives positive. It seems that he wants others to be disgusted by these wrong doings, just as he was. It is said in his writing, The Very Relation of the Devastation of the Indies, “And the Christians, with their horses and swords and pike began to carry out massacres and strange cruelties against them. They attacked the towns and spared neither the children nor the aged nor pregnant women nor women in childbed, not only stabbing them and dismembering them but cutting them into pieces as if dealing with sheep in the slaughter house”(37).
He was mentally unstable due to his upbringing and abusive father. His love for his mother made him the way he is. He killed older women for pleasure and to use their skin for things like masks, furniture and belts. Of all the murderers out there, he has to be the worst. The world is a better place without
After reading Beowulf, it was very obvious that Grendel is an evil character and has nothing but bad in him. Throughout Beowulf Grendel is not accepted in society and not wanted on any terms, and this upsets him. Grendel is very different than those around him which make things in life difficult. He isn’t accepted because in the peoples eyes Grendel is a killer and kills out of anger and what he holds inside. An example of Grendel killing the innocent people around him is, when Beowulf’s warriors are sleeping Grendel sneaks into the room, attacks the men and tares them to pieces.
North Vietnamese were against the Americans during the war and had multiple reasons in hating Americans. Some reasons they hated Americans were because the North Vietnamese “deaths were very many” (Adams) and because of the “the poisons Americans dropped” (Adams) onto their land. By having so many deaths, the families of those people were sad and the North Vietnamese troops lessened. The poisons
