It can be of great joy and pleasure to celebrate the joyful moments of our loved ones and friends by baking birthday cakes. Birthdays are one of those occasions when people can have fun and enjoy those special moments. To make someone’s birthday a special treat, here is a recipe to make a homemade birthday cake. To prepare the cake, you will need to purchase the following items from the grocery store: shortening or nonstick cooking spray, parchment paper, flour, baking powder, salt, unsalted butter, sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla extract, frosting, decorating, powdered sugar, heavy whipping cream or milk. Fillings such as fruit jelly or chopped fresh fruit, edible cake decorations such as sprinkles, birthday candles, and chocolate shavings or chopped nuts can be used to spruce up the cake (Elephant, 1). First, to bake the cake place one of your oven racks in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 350 degrees; fit the bottom of each pan with a piece of parchment paper and rub a thin layer of shortening around the inside of both pans, or spray with cooking spray; press the parchment paper against the shortening so it will stick and grease the top side of the parchment with shortening as well; sift the cake flour, baking powder, salt together into a large bowl, and set the bowl aside; whisk together the eggs, milk and vanilla extract in a bowl; set the bowl aside; beat the butter and sugar together with an electric mixer on medium speed until the mixture is light, smooth and fluffy.
