The friendship between Johnson and Ellis has caused Frank Havens, the Assistant Athletic Director, to hesitate in approaching Ellis with the complaints he has received about Johnson from both members and staff. This hesitation to take action has caused his staff to start questioning his abilities as a manager. When Havens finally approaches Ellis with the complaints, Ellis becomes extremely defensive. Bob Watts also diminished the allegations and tried to convince Havens that it was just a silly rumor. The unwillingness by Bob Watts, the Director, and Ted Ellis, the Athletic
The character who had the wrong knowledge was Cruz. This is because, Cruz didn’t see the importance in what Coach Carter was making them do. So, he gave up too easily, and in order to get back on the team he had to work for it. The character who had the right aims was Kenyan. Kenyan had gotten his girlfriend Kira pregnant, and he tried to do what was best to step up to the plate of being a father.
Odysseus did not warn his men about Scylla because he was afraid they would abandon him, so he only uses his men to sail the ship, which shows that his own intentions are more important to him than the lives of his crewmen. Ulysses also only cared about his intentions and lied to Pete and Delmar about a treasure so they would escape with him. Both of them were brave and leaders in their group. But one thing Odysseus has that Ulysses didn’t have was a strong relationship with his wife. Penelope and Odysseus remained faithful to each other even though they were separated, and Penelope refused to re-marry.
A hero in the sea The open boat In the story “the open boat” (Crane 185-187) Billie is one of the guys on the boat that showed a lot of strength and courageous of the boat and the people that’s on it. Other guys on the boat including the captain show carelessness most of the time by sleeping around and being exhausting form sailing. Billie Was the hero that took the correspondence’s place more than enough, even when he knew the correspondence just wanted to sleep. He kept sailing towards the beach. It was a great end for Billie showing his heroic skills, although he didn’t knew about it.
This quote was beneficial during his coaching years to help discipline his players. The team had a reputation for winning so many games; but, he wanted to teach his players that building their character is more important than being seen as winners. It is merely what everyone else sees them as only. Mr. Wooden worries more about his students’ character than their reputation because character repeats champions not reputation.
His ex-friend Bennie Reid taught Paul that sometimes relationships ‘just happen’ even though Paul did not like the prospect of befriending Bennie largely because of his position in the social hierarchy, he still could not abandon Bennie and be left with nobody. Paul’s relationship with Keller is therefore very important to him because although Paul might be at the bottom of the school hierarchy along with Bennie, he is as his parents often remind him, a talented musician. The maestro sees Paul’s arrogance for what it is and conversely devises his teaching methods to suit the position at which Paul was at. As this was initially an insult to Paul the relationship started with no mutual respect, Keller having respect for no one in his surroundings treated his student as he would anyone else. Paul’s first impressions of Keller are ‘Misleading, of course’ and that he is a bad teacher because of Keller’s patronisation.
Troy’s inability to accept change and even his inability to see the change the world is undergoing directly hurts his relationship with not only Cory, but also indirectly impairs his ability to understand his own wife. After Cory learns that Troy will not allow him to play football, he accuses his dad that the reason he won’t let him play football is, “cause you didn’t have a chance! You just scared I’m gonna be better than you, that’s all” (58). Although Troy does not flat out say he is afraid of Cory surpassing him, in all the cases where Troy explains his reasons in not letting Cory play football, he always underlines his resentment towards sports because of the injustice sports had given him in his own life. This clearly expresses that because of his own experience with injustice, Troy is involuntarily jealous of the opportunity Cory is receiving through his scholarship which results in his action of not allowing Cory to participate in sports.
Did he really need your attention? Was it worth being yelled at by your coach? Was it worth it worth it throwing away your dreams and hard work down the drain? To me the answer is a big fat no. It wouldn’t have taken any absence of conscience to run right by him, and he wouldn’t have lost any sleep over it.
This will ultimately set students up for further failure. While many people oppose changing the grading policy, there are many people who support the idea. They are supporters because students have more of a chance of passing than failing and would increase the graduation rate. Although passing is what school’s hope for, there should be a clear line between the high achievers and the low achievers. everybody who passes shouldn’t get the same credit because they didn’t put in any effort.
Some people who are feeling inadequate then see that person and begin to think they can never possibly be that thus giving up on that “thing”. Competition is there to improve us and if you don’t think that you can do a trait better then the next guy, success is obsolete. Competition is the only way for success in our society. Competition brings some kind of success to everyone in some aspect. We have to compete in school, physical activity, and the social realm to keep improving our world.
