Proponents attest that legalizing the plant will create tax revenues and would save money on enforcement. The plant is presently endorsed by the College of Physicians and the American Medical Association for treatment of glaucoma and to aid cancer patients in dealing with chemotherapy. All of this research proves that the aging hippies aren’t alone. The recent PEW polls found backing for medical marijuana across the political spectrum and all age groups- a clear sign that tolerance is growing and the future for medicinal marijuana nationally is in
Persuasive Research Paper: Medical Marijuana Persuasive Research Paper: Medical Marijuana Thesis: Medicinal marijuana needs to be legalized because it is overall less harmful to the human anatomy than prescription medicine, therefore it should be legalized and regulated in the same manner as prescription drugs. For many decades, Cannabis has been regarded as one of the means for committing felony of individuals in the society. MDMA should be reviewed and rescheduled due to the fact that the initial scheduling reports were flawed, there are vast medical uses for MDMA in treating patients who have shown no improvements with other psychological treatments, and there is a very low possibility of death amongst users of unadulterated MDMA. Why must we withhold a drug that can be so very useful for the treatment of extreme mental conditions and possibly cure thousands of Americans of their
I realize that there will always be people who will abuse the substance, just as there are those who abuse alcohol. With any mind-altering substance, moderation is key. I realize that simply legalizing marijuana will not be nearly as easy to do as it sounds. However, I believe that the benefits of legalizing the substance far outweigh the drawbacks. If something that has been considered an evil for so long can be turned into something good, I don't see any reason why it should not be done.
This drug significantly reduced cholesterol from 40 percent to 72 percent when given at two-week intervals. It was also given at four-week intervals but the effects were not nearly as significant. However, “Six patients, all receiving REGN727, stopped the therapy due to adverse events which included headache, injection site reactions, and diarrhea” (Curley, Ann, CNN, 2012). Those side effects would likely scare anyone. That is why the government needs to step in and offer a grant for these companies to dig deeper into their studies and come up with something that has less side effects.

Police and court resources would be freed up for more serious crimes. Legalization would mean a lower price; thus, related crimes (like theft) would be reduced.” (Joe Messerli, Balanced Politics.org) The biggest reason that medical marijuana should be legalized is simply for the medical reasons. NormL.org states “Of all the negative consequences of marijuana prohibition, none is as tragic as the denial of medicinal cannabis to the tens of thousands of patients who could benefit from its therapeutic use.” Marijuana could provide pain relief from neuropathic pain, nausea, spasticity (from MS) Glaucoma, migraine headaches & movement disorders. Marijuana also is an appetite stimulant and HIV, AIDS, wasting syndrome and dementia patients could all benefit from marijuana. Marijuana also protects against some types of malignant tumours and are
The possiblility of understanding more of this herb and its contribution is limited. Unless marijuana studies are scientifically acceptable through clinical trials along with statistical analysis, there won’t be any answeres to its therapeutic effects. Legalizing marijuana will contribute to adequate study and research and will benefit individuals who will be able to lean on medicinal marijuana legally and without concern; giving them peace of mind as well as relief. In some cases, people with ailments or diseases that are desperate, willingly break the law regardless of consequence because of their grave need to relieve their pain. For instance, in the case of Raich, “a mother of two teenagers who says she has been suffering from a litany of disabling

There is a pretty large risk taken when using marijuana for medical incline, such as when using the drug for treatment of pneumonia and AIDS, the drug may suppress the immune system or it may expose your system to malicious pathogens. Bill Frist, MD, states, “I would caution against this assumption due to the lack of consistent, repeatable scientific data available to prove marijuana's medical benefits,”(Should marijuana be, 2011). In the long standing controversial argument over use of medical marijuana in the hospitals of America, every person can come to an opinion. Medical marijuana should be slowly incorporated and used until further, stronger evidence shows no risk.
