One of the problems was him and his men being trapped in a cave with the Cyclops. When Odysseus stabbed the giant in the eye so they all could escape the cave he needed everyone to help him and be ready when the Cyclops got up (285-290). His act of heroicness and bravery created a better relationship between him and his men, because the men had to trust him to get through it. Another problem was facing the sirens. Odysseus sacrificed his safety so the men could control the ship without falling for the sirens, and dying (745-753).
Odysseus narrates books Nine to Twelve to the Phaeacians. Odysseus’ character is greatly revealed here and the evidence taken from his actions supports attributes that the audience has been previously told exist. From the very start of the poem we are old that Odysseus is ‘resourceful’ and in these four books, we are clearly shown how. Odysseus demonstrates his resourcefulness when he uses what is lying around in Polyphemus’ cave – an olive tree branch- to save his comrades and himself. This story also shows Odysseus’ resourceful attribute when he uses the rams for concealment.
All this is part of his 'propaganda war' to appear a good and deserving leader of France by maintaining the moral high ground. Constantly focusing on maintaing the moral high ground makes a big impact on how successful Henry was. From early on he goes along with the seige even though most of his men were suffering from dystentry; he still manages to inspire them even though they were extremely ill. Once Henry had captured Harfleur he was confident enough to write a letter to the

What is a leader? Well according to Webster’s Dictionary, it is “a person who has commanding authority or influence.” In William Golding’s book, The Lord of The Flies, Ralph is the leader. Focus is something that anyone would need in the types of situations that Ralph has come across. In this book, he portrays such a focused character, because he is always thinking and he is always finding ways to keep everyone controlled.
Odysseus was smart enough to know what would happen if you eat the Lotus and didn’t want his men to forget everything. A good leader has to make sure his men are listening to him even if that means he has to threaten them. In this case, Odysseus tell his men that they won’t go back home if they eat the Lotus which keeps them away from it. Odysseus’ strength as a leader was what helped him to see his family after all of the challenges he had to

This also symbolizes that Alexander was unselfish by showing respect to his men, even though he was injured himself. Hammond stress Alexander’s positive attitude towards his men when he writes, “He loved his soldiers and they loved him; he and his veterans wept when they parted company . . .” Another reason Alexander’s respect for his army indicated his good leadership skills is due to the fact that he would always fight in battle with his men and would never let them fight alone.
So don’t try it on, my poor misguided boy, or else…” (Goldman 131). The Lord of the Flies also tells Simon that the beast is real, because he is the beast. Simon does not fall for the trap or give in to temptation because it is against his moral values. “Pig’s head on a stick” (Goldman 130), Simon says to the Lord of the Flies. By not allowing his civilization to slip away, Simon is able to understand what the beast truly is: it is a savage instinct that is inside all of the boys that influences their every decision.
