Answer: The humans were tricked into thinking conditions on Animal Farm were better than they really were because no none knew that the animals were deprived of food. It was kept from the outside world. And the fact that the animals were still working made them think they were doing perfectly fine. (Page 85) 2) What "deal" is Napoleon contemplating? Historically, what did this symbolize? Answer: Napoleon was wanting to sell a pile of timber in the yard for 10 years and Mr. Pilkington and Mr. Frederick were anxious to buy it. (Page 87) 3) To what did Boxer attribute the frightening slaughter of fellow animals? What is his solution? Answer: He said that he couldn't understand it and he wouldn't have believed that such things could happen on their farm.
