Through Freire’s lens, Rodriguez would be considered a waste basket. He was filled not only with his teacher’s knowledge, but also with information obtained from his “important” books. Rodriguez seems to be a classic student of Freire’s banking system. Rodriguez shows signs of fleeing away from the ways of the banking concept early on. He concedes by saying, “I became the prized student […] anxious and eager to learn.
Yet, they are trying to survive in this post-apocalyptic world with very little means. As well as, on this journey they have no car and are traveling by foot pushing a cart. In this New World they are constantly struggling on a daily basis and are relying on very little means to get to their destination. In the Old World the father had shelter; he had a house to sleep in every night without worrying about someone attacking his family. Yet, in the New World the father and son have to search for new locations to sleep and hide in so they don’t get attacked.
Meanwhile, his son has fallen in love with an outsider and refuses to be joined in marriage to anyone but. Never having heard of such blasphemy, the father will not, and plans to never have anything to do with his daughter-in-law to be. After a long time of straining to keep his son out of his mind and avoiding his name, a single letter challenges his beliefs and reminds him that there may be more important things than his pride. After taking the archetype analysis, I am actually not surprised with my results. I agree with the results of my scoring, and would definitely describe myself as a seeker. However, rather than happily exploring new ideas, the purpose for my ‘seeking’ is not necessarily positive. I represent the “shadow side” of the archetype, as often times I feel the pain of dissatisfaction, alienation or emptiness consuming my soul. Therefore, I desire to search for something, but at the same time I feel as if I am on an aimless journey, without direction, ungrounded, and disconnected from others.
How can you communicate the in spite of their different and unacceptable view of life. And what would happen if the others don’t accept your idea and thoughts? Once the belonging is an identity. Now that technology is being used so abundantly, people are becoming socially isolated and disconnected from reality. So why must we feel the need and urgency of technologies capabilities to replace something as valuable as human interaction? Has technology grown so much that it is now the only source that’s relevant enough for a community to communicate freely with one another? Is it just more convenient for people to use these technologies as ways to express themselves to others, or is it a way to establish friendships at your own leisure? No matter how people use technology to interact with their daily lives, it is prudent that we understand, without moderate care and usage of these technologies, we are all doomed to be affected negatively.
“The Hiking Trip” Analysis In the short story “The Hiking Trip,” the protagonist, Jeff, has to leave the canyon without his dad, in order to find help for his injured brother, Mark. Jeff is courageous and loving, and his true self is shown by his actions throughout the story. By the end Jeff finds his strength, he finds that love can give you courage. In the beginning, Jeff acts childish and frightened. For example, he says,”I never wanted to come on this stupid old hiking trip!” This shows that he is immature because he is complaining about the trip while Mark is badly injured and in need of assistance.
When Farmer got married to his wife Didi and then had a kid I thought he would maybe change his ways and become a family man. Paul never becomes a family man because he was in such a habit to go to Haiti and not staying in one place, such as his home with his family that he never changed. Paul always had to be helping somebody. Even though Paul is away from his family for a good cause, I think it isn’t right to start a family but never be around to see them. The third thing that I saw is wrong with Paul Farmer’s lifestyle was that Paul is risking his life, to save others, and if Paul is to get sick or die, his family would have no way to support themselves.
That intrinsic feeling we get when faced with something unknown to us leads us on to act and figure out what this would be. We, as humans, crave for knowledge. It’s inherent to us, native, and it’s born with us. Many people, like Donald Latumahina, argue that curiosity may be trained and developed by oneself. What this means is that some people could be much less eager to satisfy their intellectual needs than others (maybe not even at all?).
