Analysis of the Eight Fold Path to Enlightenment The Eightfold Path began as the last of Buddha’s Four Noble Truths. Through Buddha’s teachings he tells you that this is the way to end all suffering and achieve true self wakening. The eightfold path, in all its levels, is supposed to be followed and developed together. They are all linked together and help develop the other folds. There are 3 basics divisions of the path. They are wisdom, ethical conduct, and concentrations (Wikipedia 1). Wisdom helps provide an understanding of reality. Ethical conduct helps a follower to remain mentally and physically pure. Finally, concentrations help a follower achieve a higher consciousness that is needed to develop a true wisdom. All the folds in the path start with the word right which is used to suggest a sense of perfect. The first fold of the path is the right view. This path gives a reason to start following the other paths. This fold of the path is the way that Buddha wanted you to see the life, nature, and the world as it really is. It also explains why we have human suffering. This path explains a way to live a virtuous life, with the right view. If a follower can follow this fold then it will clear the path of uncertainty, misinterpretation, and diluted thinking (Allan 1). All of this can be found with a flexible, unlock mind and can be liberating. A practitioner of this pathway would follow this first fold by accepting the four noble truths. They would also be following this path by understanding that the right views yield the right thoughts and actions. The second fold is the right intention. This is also known as the right thought. Is this fold you try to rid yourself of things that you know to be immoral or wrong. If you have a true understanding of this fold then you will know the difference between the right intention and the wrong
