An Uplifting Walk in the Park I was having one of those days where I was focusing on everything negative, everything that was not going the way I wanted it to in my life, and I was feeling very lonely. One of those days where you are waiting for that last thing that’s going to send you falling completely down like the last swing of an axe on a tree before it falls. As much as I wanted to, I could not seem to find my way out of this self-destructive mood. I didn’t know what to do with myself, everyone and everything around me was just making it worse, so I decided to get out and go for a walk in the park. I had no idea how much of a positive impact this walk was going to have on me and this horrible mood that had taken over me like a sickness. I arrived at the park around six in the evening. The sun was getting closer to touching the tree line and the temperature was starting to cool down, which I found very relaxing. As I stepped out of my car, right away I could see children playing in the playground. I could hear the laughs and see the smiles that were being passed back and forth like they were playing hot potato with them. Before I knew it, the potato was thrown my way, and I caught myself smiling. I stood there for a moment, admiring the innocence of these children and trying to get back to that worry-free state of mind for a little. I then placed my headphones around my ears, tuned into one of my favorite local radio stations, and began walking. I started walking at a medium pace, like I needed to be somewhere but was in no rush to get there. I was listening to the radio loud enough to not hear much of what was going on around me. As I came upon the entrance to the woods, I could see the distinct difference in scenery, and was excited to take in all the beauty that lied ahead.
