Abstract American Red Cross is the most trusted name in America when it comes to relief work within distressed areas in The United States and the rest of the world. American Red Cross is a nonprofit organization that has been in the business of providing social services like medical care, emergency services, air ambulances, burial services, mental habitats, old homes, child welfare services, abused women safe houses and training facilities for the disadvantaged. Clara Barton and a circle of acquaintances founded the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C. on May 21, 1881 (1). When, it comes to describing the role communication plays in perception and organizational cultures I believe that perception is a process by which individuals organize and interpret their sensory impressions in order to give meaning to their environment. Communication plays a fundamental role in perception and organizational culture. Perception among the American Red Cross organization may cause misalignment between espoused values and enacted values. Conflict tends to improve communication among and within groups, therefore allowing the organization to be more efficient (5). Recent studies examining how extrinsic rewards increased motivation for some creative tasks suggests we might need to place cognitive evaluation theory’s predictions in a broader context. When volunteering at the Cincinnati Red Cross, the supervisors would make goals that we needed to achieve by the end of the eight hour shift.
