American Dad and Family Guy

A lot of people think that American Dad! and Family Guy is the same show, with just different characters, and a lot of those people are right. American Dad! and Family guy have a lot of similarities, from the creator of the two shows Seth MacFarlane, to being Fox Network productions, and having a general story line based on suburban families with children and an opinionated pet. Family Guy was created in 1999 with edgy humor and mainstream appeal, while American Dad! was created in 2005 and has caustic, more adult humor with frequent political references. Lets start by looking at the two main characters, the dads. American Dad’s main character is Stan Smith. Stan is muscular, loud, bumbling idiot who works for the CIA. He has dark brown hair and has a deep voice. While Family Guy’s main character is Peter Griffin who is fat, loud, bumbling idiot who worked in a toy factory. Has light brown hair and a higher pitched voice. In each show, they do something that the other has either done, or will do in a previous/future episode. Also, there is the shows’ supporting cast. Family Guy features an attractive redheaded housewife, while American Dad! features and attractive blonde housewife. (Just changing hair colors.) The Griffins' oldest child is a daughter in high school who is unpopular because she is ugly and boring. The Smiths’ oldest child is a daughter in community college who is unpopular because she is a hippie, and everyone hates hippies because they stink. Both are daughters, and both are unpopular. Also the girls sort of look alike. On Family Guy, the Griffins' second child is a boy who is unpopular with girls because he is fat and slightly retarded. The Smiths’ second child is a boy who is unpopular with girls because he is a douche bag. They change the boys appearances a little, but they are still both disliked by girls.
