The automobile changed technology for a lifetime. It introduced the assembly line which led to mass production of cars. In 1921 there were one million cars produced. The last main idea in the chapter, at least in my opinion is how they talk about city vs. country living. Henry Ford came from a farming family.
Why did Ford establish a luxury car division? In 1919, Mr Edsel Ford succeeded his father Mr Henry Ford as president of the company, although Henry still kept a hand in management. While prices were kept low through highly efficient engineering, the company used an oldfashioned personalized management system, and neglected consumer demand for improved vehicles. So, while four-wheel brakes were invented by ArrolJohnson they did not appear on a Ford until 1927. Ford steadily lost market share to GM and Chrysler, as these and other domestic and foreign competitors began offering fresher automobiles with more innovative features and luxury options.
Henry Ford spent most of his life making headlines, good, bad, but never indifferent. Celebrated as both a technological genius and a folk hero, Ford was the creative force behind an industry of unprecedented size and wealth that in only a few decades permanently changed the economic and social character of the United States. When young Ford left his father's farm in 1879 for Detroit, only two out of eight Americans lived in cities; when he died at age 83, the proportion was five out of eight. Once Ford realized the tremendous part he and his Model T automobile had played in bringing about this change, he wanted nothing more than to reverse it, or at least to recapture the rural values of his boyhood. Henry Ford, then, is an apt symbol of the
Born in one of the most adventuresome periods in automotive history, the original Corvette featured daring new styling and pioneered the use of fiberglass-body construction. But after three shaky years in production the Corvette nearly died of slow sales. Than a land mark V8 engine and superb new styling save it, while racing successes prove it the equal of any rival. In 1952 top executive people of General Motors decided to built a new sport car. This group named this car “Corvette“ defined as a stall nimble warship it implied speed, strength and manoeuvrability –perfect for a sporty two-seat roadster.
However, in this fast-paced, innovative world, no company is safe from competition. In 2007, Ford became the third-ranked automaker in U.S. sales, falling from the second-place automaker ranking for the first time in 56 years (Wikipedia). Ironically, one year later, Ford is reaching out to their consumers, employees, dealers, and retirees with their “Drive One” campaign. The “Drive One” campaign is seeking to educate their audience, change their attitude and encourage behavior. These objectives can be exhibited in the KAB Model: knowledge, attitude and behavior.

Gases are non-renewable source of energy and therefore after several decades of the evolution of cars, the world is suffering from depletion. During some time in the early years of the twentieth century, hybrid cars were introduced by Baker of Cleveland and Woods of Chicago. (http://www.hybridcars.com/history/history-of-hybrid-vehicles.html) However, this great invention was soon challenged by the gasoline-powered cars in the sense of noise, weight and vibration. Full hybrid cars are vehicles which were made such as it can run on just engines, or on the batteries, or even better on a combination of both. This is because each hybrid cars contains two motors which also are its strengths and weaknesses.
1.1. Volkswagen :A brief history First thought of by Adolf Hitler, the Volkswagen car was designed and built by Ferdinand Porsche, a Mercedes employee hired by the Reich in 1938 to materialize the idea. The firm itself was created in 1937 with the goal to provide an affordable and safe car, able to fit two adults and three children, to each German family. This first “people's car” (Volkswagen) concept -the beetle- gradually became the legendary best-seller we all know. Today, the Volkswagen Group has its head quarters in Wolfsburg Germany and is one of the world’s leading automobile brands and one of the most dominant car-makers in Europe.
