As the success of the fur trade began seeming limited, traffickers of the fur trade began exporting and importing products, which were domestically produced. This business approach culminated in the Bank of Montreal in 1817, which lead to the creation of the Committee of Trade in 1822. The economy hadn’t bloomed until the 1860’s, but then found that insurance companies, stocks exchanges and the banks drove the financial industry. Montreal was arguably the capital of business in Canada at this time, with their largest competition coming from the Upper Canada region (Toronto). After generations of relying on trade and commerce, Montreal had gained recognition as a major industrial center.
Its three immediate goals include: creating new jobs and saving existing ones, spurring economic activity and investing in long-term growth, and fostering unprecedented levels of accountability and transparency in government spending. The Recovery Act intends to achieve those goals by the following: providing $288 billion in tax cuts and benefits for millions of working families and businesses, increasing federal funds for education and health care as well as entitlement programs (such as extending unemployment benefits) by $224 billion, making $275 billion available for federal contracts, grants and loans, and requiring recipients of Recovery funds to report quarterly on how they are using the money. The rationale for this stimulus comes out of the Keynesian economic tradition that argues that government budget deficits should be used to cover the output gap created by the drop in consumer spending during a recession. While offering financial aid directly to local school districts, expanding the Child Tax Credit, and underwriting a process to computerize health records so that medical errors can be reduced with health care costs being saved, the Recovery Act is targeted at infrastructure development and enhancement. For instance, investment in the domestic renewable energy industry and the weatherizing of 75 percent of federal buildings along with more than one million private homes around the country is planned.
English 102, 10:00 a.m. 5 December 2010 Midwest Meltdown Dear Mr. President, we are writing you today with great concern regarding the situation in the Midwest region of the United States. As the up 2012 presidential election quickly approaches we would recommend that your focus be directed to the Detroit, Michigan; Flint, Michigan and Youngstown, Ohio regions. Ohio and Michigan have lost anywhere from fifty –to-sixty percent of their population due to the reduction of available work, resulting in an influx of blight. Mr. President, there is much for you to gain by addressing the blight and lack of employment in the “Rust Belt” cities. Please address your attention to combating this through land banks, urban farmland, urban forest and
Perhaps they ought to indulge in the proposed office complex; while 18 million dollars is the largest sum of initial investment between three other projects it does appear to have the potential to yield the largest Return on Investment (ROI). Such risks are often times necessary to grow and expand the company into a world
Bombardier I predict that Bombardier stock prices will increase. Some of the factors that will give an impact to the price are: new products, good customer services, supply and demand, and major deals with another major company. New products (Global 5000, Challenger 300 and Learjet 40)1 will cause an impact to stock prices, because producing new products will motivate citizens to buy their products. In current news, Deutsche Bahn has bought 42 new double deck coaches from Bombardier Transportation3. From this news, I can see their will be an increase of the company earnings, and also, the stock price might go up.
As the industrial revolution progressed after the War of 1812, great changes and numerous advancements expedited the growth of the nation. Transportation, such as canals, bridges, and railroads, were developed at great speed. The revolution brought on many new ideas that were so strongly changing and developing. The most important event was probably the establishment of universal manhood suffrage: all white men became eligible to vote. The arrival of thousands of new voters was to change American politics forever.
Describe the pricing strategy you used during Scenario C of the Simulation Exercise. During scenario C, my strategy was focused on two main goals: 1. Increasing net profits and 2. Maximize capacity utilization consistently to 100% every month. Increase monthly net profits goal was achieve by strategically increase the rental price in cities with high demand and growing market share.
Generations and Geography The white paper, titled “Generations and Geography Understanding the Diversity of Generations around the Globe” presents Tammy Erickson’s research findings, which identify geographic location as a significant factor that influences the formation of both a generation’s beliefs and behavior. Erickson uses these findings to argue that the emerging global economy necessitates that employers understand and accommodate geographically specific generational models as a means to attract and retain employees. I strongly agree with this argument and believe that it should be refined to focus specifically on Generation-Y (born between: 1980 – 1995), as they will soon be the largest faction of the global workforce. As a member of the Generation-Y it’s easy for me to draw parallels between my own characteristics and those Erickson lists as key for the U.S. Generation-Y. However, the experiences I remember as a child don’t support Erickson’s argument that the geographic factions of Generation-Y have the largest number of commonly shared experiences.
Under these conditions, immigration laws became an important step towards the development of the country. The thing is, that immigrants became a very important phenomenon in the life of the USA (Behrens para. 5). Especially significant this question became at the beginning of the 20th century when millions of people arrived in the country every year (Waters 1736). That is why, respond from the government to regulate this very process became quite logic and immigration laws which main aim was to satisfy the needs of people appeared.
