Alcohol Reflection Essay Last week, an RA caught me in a room with people drinking alcohol. The cans of beer were scattered everywhere and I understand why he reported us when he did. While I myself did not drink, I know that as a sober individual in the room, it was my responsibility to tell the others the poor decisions they were making through the consumption of alcohol. Not only does alcohol have a negative effect on the people drinking it, but also on other people who were living on the floor. Alcohol has negative effects on the people consuming it. It makes them not think with a clear head and thus causes them to make poor decisions. Also, it affects students in the long run because with the idea of alcohol in mind, they find themselves less motivated to do homework or study. It causes them to become unfocused and less involved in community activities. Furthermore, it makes students reckless and irresponsible especially when people plan to drink in a dorm room because the noise level usually becomes too high. I will always be respectable to the people around my rooms by making sure my friends and I are quiet after hours and also that no alcohol is in the room. If my friends ever decide to drink again, I know it is my duty to deter them because it is a blatant violation of the rules here at Cornell. Furthermore, if I do find myself surrounded by people who are intoxicated, I will try to take care of them or call someone on campus. I know that the Good Samaritan policy here prevents me from getting involved but at the same time it will be a good way to help friends in need if they are too intoxicated. Overall, this experience has thought me that I should take control of what I'm doing and who I'm doing it with and the importance of being cautious in an environment where there does happen to be
