She would never be caught dead in green, red, or blue. How much of an airhead could someone be? Thinks tuna is chicken, but it’s really chicken of the sea. She struts her tiny waist, designer clothing, and big bust, But everyone knows that her brain is made of dust. She bakes in the sun to get that bronzy glow, But once you get past that, you see it’s all for show.
She plied the poor little creature with everything, all the 188 sandwiches, all the bread and butter, and every time her cup was empty she filled it with tea, 189 cream and sugar. People always said sugar was so nourishing. As for herself she didn't eat; 190 she smoked and looked away tactfully so that the other should not be shy. 191 192 And really the effect of that slight meal was marvellous. When the tea-table was carried 193 away a new being, a light, frail creature with tangled hair, dark lips, deep, lighted eyes, lay 194 back in the big chair in a kind of sweet languor, looking at the blaze.
Oates places beautiful Marilyn Monroe against the background of a used bookstore to accent how foreign the girl-poets take her to be. In the first two paragraphs of Three Girls, Oates describes the Strand Used Bookstore as dark, dingy, unorganized, and unrefined (77). Whereas, later on in the story, Oates describes Marilyn Monroe as the leading lady, attractive, and charming, even though she is dressed in men’s clothing with her blond hair in a braid (78). Even when the girl-poets describe Marilyn Monroe as “more resembling them, then she resembled her Hollywood image,” she seems to be out of place in the Strand (79). The girl-poets wonder, to themselves of course, why the Marilyn Monroe would be browsing through used books, when she could be walking through the Waldorf-Astoria (80).
Iago also refers to Constantine as a “cunning mouse” (39) as he warns Desdemona against her. He continues on to say: “beware my lady, of the mouse who eats/ the lion’s cheese while sitting in his lap” (40). The mouse imagery becomes more meaningful by the end of the play when Constantine transforms from the shy little mouse, to a strong self-confident woman. In Shakespeare Othello, animal imagery
Bradbury uses imagery to depict the looks of Mildred, “… her hair burnt by chemicals to a brittle straw, her eyes with a kind of cataract unseen but suspect for behind the pupils, the reddened pouting lips, the body as thin as a praying mantis from dieting and her flesh like white bacon.” (Bradbury 48) The image of Mildred’s grotesque looks shows a picture of the effects of being isolated from the outside world, because the reader realizes that Mildred looks the way she does because she is always inside with the “family”. Bradbury also uses allusions to portrait isolation and loneliness. “The twelve tribes of Israel wandering in the desert seeking a new nation can be recalled here as Montag, Granger, and
In fact, the menu should have it all lower case, that’s the impressions that it left me with. Nothing on menu is surprising or exciting. They provide some interesting twists, but if you like your meals to be more special, this is not the place for you. My dinner was downright tasty- a grilled chicken topped with spinach and goat cheese. My girlfriend’s pork fontina was tasty too.
A mud pie is dry, grainy, and cracks easily. Although a mud pie is not edible, it is messy and fun to make. Apples pies can be made with sweet or tart apples, either of which makes a delicious pie. Apples are peeled, cored and cut into thin slices, mixed with flour, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. This mixture is enclosed in a double crust and baked until golden brown and bubbly.
Amy POV I love this place! It's my heaven; a place without Dan's dumb practical jokes.Without realizing it, I started to lie down on the soft green carpet of the bookstore. I closed my eyes for a few minutes when I heard someone clear their throat. I opened my eyes to see a woman who looked like she just got divorced. She was wearing a tacky green vest, and a yellow pencil skirt.
Macbeth: “If I must be Emperor of the USSR, then so be it. I’m sure Emperor Duncan would want it this way.” (Scene #5-Lady Macbeth’s Death) (Chuck) Narrator: Meanwhile in Lady Macbeth’s room, Lady Macbeth is fast asleep in bed. Wracked with guilt, she sleepwalks…... Lady Macbeth: “I cannot bear the pain any longer. This is the end…” (Lady Macbeth stabs herself with a dagger. Chuck kneels down and dies.)
The room has that same musky, yet incredibly cold, feeling as though it were any other ordinary day, but with a different tone, with a poignant scent of sweat. The professor glances at all who dare walk in, as though she were the warden of hell and it was her duty to decide which level her victim was to spend the rest of eternity in. Her face today contains a grin. A grin that makes it seem as though she is going to lose her composure and burst into a maniacal cackle. An evil sort of grin that accentuates her snail-like features.
