Aggressive Panhandling Panhandling is a very important issue one that should not be ignored because if left untreated could result in an even greater issue then it was originally. Generally, there are two types of panhandling: passive and aggressive. Passive panhandling is soliciting without threat or menace, often without any words exchanged at all just a cup or a hand held out. Aggressive panhandling is soliciting coercively, with actual or implied threats, or menacing actions. If a panhandler uses physical force or extremely aggressive actions, the panhandling may constitute robbery. You have a group of people that live in a community in which they love and respect and feel that they can no longer feel safe in their own neighborhood because of these young men panhandling at the local grocery store. The goal I want to achieve is in the best interest of the community and these young men. I want to have a safe neighborhood for the people that live in it and have alternative options for these young men to successful and legally make money. A step towards fixing the problem with these young boys would be to have a squad car arrive and stationed at the store for a few hours before noon hits because the boys tend to come to the store around noon. Having law enforcement there is a good sign that would help deter the men from hanging around the store and being a nuisance to the community. This is a positive thing because it helps the store thrive and prosper the local business owner as well and it makes the community safe for the people who live in it. The back end to this action could only make the young me leave this current location and do it again at a new location, so nothing was changed just the redirected for these boys, the problem wasn’t fixed.
