Schools are very “colorful” places. Everywhere you look there is schoolwork, posters, and artwork. What would happen if corporations were allowed to advertise in schools? Multiple things would be affected, including the students and the schools themselves. Business’ and companies should not be allowed to advertise in schools. Obesity is becoming a huge problem in America. Fast food restaurants are being built all over, and advertisements are everywhere. What would happen if all these advertisements were brought into public schools? Corporations are becoming smarter and smarter when it comes to advertising. There are famous athletes and other pop stars that are getting paid to advertise for companies such as Mountain Dew, and Red Bull. When kids see their favorite athlete holding a Red Bull they think that they will look cooler if they drink it. If these advertisements were placed in schools, you would see many kids eating and drinking unhealthy. When you think of a public school like North Gate, you think of a neat and organized school. This could all change if corporations were allowed to advertise in schools. Instead of the students own schoolwork and artwork, walls would be plastered with advertisements. Yes, ads are very colorful and pleasant to look at, but to many ads in one place can be distracting and unpleasant to look at. The final thing that will be affected is the learning ability of the students. Advertisements are very distracting for both children and adults. Students already come to school singing all those catchy jingles they see or hear on television. This distracts the students and their ability to learn. If schools started putting up advertisements, all the talk would be about them. Also if advertisements were placed in classrooms, test taking would become much more difficult due to colorful distracting ads. People have different
