So with women having the right to freedom of speech, they should be given the right to choose if they want to have children or not right? Low income women’s access to reproductive services is limited by their healthcare providers. There apparently is a difficulty with the Medicaid disbursement system. Since 1976, the Hyde Amendment has prevented women on Medicaid from using their insurance for abortion care, minor exceptions. The Hyde Amendment does however provide reproductive funding to women who have been raped and victims of incest, or when it endangers a mother’s life. As of now only 17 states have opted in on the option to use their own funding to expand Medicaid coverage. South Dakota is the only state that goes against the Hyde Amendment, only providing medical coverage to mothers whose lives are in danger. Current research is under way “to improve Medicaid coverage for abortion and to explore the experiences of facilities in states where state policy provides for Medicaid coverage for all or most abortions,” ( Dennis, Blanchard, Córdova,…show more content…
Allowing abortions to be illegal would increase crime rate because there would be a decrease in employment, a decrease in housing and cause an alarming impact on the stability of our communities. It is already predicted that if stability doesn’t change there will be a shortages of food. This prediction would become reality sooner than you think .When you look at regulations by the government would assure stability as well as the prochoice for women.
