She believes that the mothers that use infanticide as a legal defense basically use that as an excuse in order to avoid a life time sentence in jail. Grant also says that Canada should think about scraping the infanticide law and focus on sentencing the woman accused of this crime more appropriately. In addition, another legal representative that is against infanticide is Jennifer Woollcombe, Crown Counsel as of 2010. Woollcombe’s argument is that when the law of infanticide was enacted in 1948, there was a much greater social stigma surrounding infanticide and how it was considered such a great sin. She believes that this defense for murder should be abolished completely because it is

Women across the country who must go through the traumatizing horrors of abortion are often categorized as shameful. They are judged enough already and certainly don’t deserve to bear the burden of ugly legislation. Planned Parenthood is an organization who supports women’s rights and is in disagreement with the things that they must put women through because of these regulations. A recent bill in Texas called the “Women’s Right to Know Act” was passed and requires women to make at least two visits to the abortion clinic before the
They came north to Canada but Canadian also turned them away. The Canadian prime minister showed unwelcomed attitude to Jewish people when he supported the deputy minister of immigration’s comment about allowing Jewish people to enter Canada. Canada response to Jewish refugee applicants was that at this time, Canada is not admitting Jews, please try some other country. Canada should open the “door” and be welcome to Jewish. Jewish people living so complicated that everyone try to send them away so Canada should accept
It is also supposed to unify Canadians around a set of principles that embody those rights. The Charter was preceded by the Canadian Bill of Rights, which was introduced by the government of John Diefenbaker in 1960. However, the Bill of Rights was only a federal statute, rather than a constitutional document. The Constitution Act of 1982 was proclaimed and signed by Queen Elizabeth II in
Paul Yuzyk, a Progressive Conservative Senator of Ukrainian descent, referred to Canada as "a multicultural nation" in his influential maiden speech in 1964, creating much national debate, and is remembered for his strong advocacy of the implementation of a multiculturalism policy. [36] On October 8, 1971, the Liberal government of Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau announced in the House of Commons that, after much deliberation, the policies of bilingualism and multiculturalism would be implemented in Canada. [37] When the Canadian constitution was patriated by Prime Minister Trudeau in 1982, one of its constituent documents was the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and section 27 of the Charter stipulates that the rights laid out in the document are to be interpreted in a manner consistent with the spirit of multiculturalism. [38] The Canadian Multiculturalism Act was introduced during the Progressive Conservative government of Brian Mulroney, and received Royal Assent on July 21, 1988. [39] On a practical level, a result of the multiculturalism Act was federal funds began to be distributed to ethnic groups to help them preserve their cultures, leading to such projects as the construction of community centres.
This individual has a fundamental right to life, which must be protected (“Pro & Con Arguments: “Should Abortion Be Legal?”” par. 2). To many the thought of killing an innocent unborn child as a form of contraceptive is wrong and inhumane. Since 1969, the CDC requests information from health agencies to do surveillance on the number and characteristics of women who legally abort a child (Pazol; pg. 1).
Most of the disagreement comes from religious people as they feel it is more important than how the government feels about abortion. Even though many of these religions have been around centuries, they still abide by their original laws which were set into place a long time ago. Religious people basically are saying that abortion is a sin because it is a killing of human being. The only way reason why the government is not going by religion or God’s word is because everyone is religious and plus they have to step down to meet the needs of society. With Antigone, she went to meet the needs of her beliefs and she stood up for what she felt was right.
Here, Hunt admits that abortion may not be “genocide”, but even so it doesn’t make it any less of a crime. Hunt believes abortion is a form of killing and that it is wrong. An opposite opinion is expressed by M. Lee, and Nancy Sprague, in the article “Abortion is a women’s Health Issue and
