A Gap Year Some high school graduates go straight to college after their summer vacation, oppose to others who take some time off before heading out to college. A gap year can make students very successful. For instance, you may need to recharge your battery before starting college; maybe you may want to volunteering/work between high school and college to find a field of your interest, or most importantly to seek for financial support. There are many advantages why students might want to take a gap year between high school and college/ universities. Talking from experience, taking some time off may be a great advantage for some students. I personally took a gap year after graduating from high school. It was not planned at all actually. I had an issue with my financial aid so that pushed me a semester behind due to financial support seeking. Then I realized why not take a whole year off because I needed the break and wanted it. Pressure from high school lead me to taking another semester off, a gap year. I was so tired of school, but also knew that my parents would not approve of me taking some time off. At the end, taking a gap year before starting the college life worked great for me. My parents were not all that content with what I did because they felt I would lose interest in going back to school, but I proved them wrong. Actually, I felt very refreshed, much energized and ready to go back to school. That time off before college served me as a time to recharge my battery. I went back to school with a much more mature attitude to keep expanding my education. I was even somewhat excited to go back to school and started college with a focused mind.
