Crime rates among those living in poverty are far higher than any other socioeconomic class. Aside from attempting to compensate for their financial shortcomings, there are many other reasons people may resort to crime. Living on such a tight budget can often cause stressors in peoples lives. This comes from feelings of inadequacy, despair, hopelessness, and maybe even the feeling that a person is not providing well enough for his or her family. Crime in poor neighborhoods is often perpetuated by the neighborhood itself.

In Defense of Single Motherhood By KATIE ROIPHE IN a season of ardent partisan clashing, Americans seem united in at least one shared idea: Single mothers are bad. A Pew Research Center poll on family structures reports that nearly 7 in 10 Americans think single mothers are a “bad thing for society.” Conservatives obsess over moral decline, and liberals worry extravagantly — and one could argue condescendingly — about children, but all exhibit a fundamental lack of imagination about what family can be — and perhaps more pressingly — what family is: we now live in a country in which 53 percent of the babies born to women under 30 are born to unmarried mothers. I happen to have two children with two different fathers, neither of whom I live with, and both of whom we are close to. I am lucky enough to be living in financially stable, relatively privileged circumstances, and to have had the education that allows me to do so. I am not the “typical” single mother, but then there is no typical single mother any more than there is a typical mother.
I don't know about you but being angry, moody and sick for fifty four months of my life does not sound fun, nor would I want to be fat for that long. Having deaths during childbirth were very common back then and it put fear in many woman. One in almost thirty deliveries resulted in the the death of the mother. Looking at a guys point of view, I think this would be very hard. What does the husband do with kids and the household when this
This reading was about the viewpoints of heterosexuals who feel and question if homosexuality should be eliminated. Many do not feel that this is a way of life, and this reading proved the viewpoints of many who see homosexuality as a disease, immoral, lecherous, or anti-social. Even though those who do not agree or approve with homosexuality, they stand it. Throughout this reading, it talks about how society deals with homosexuality, trying to cure it when, really, society is just making it worse. Society makes it clear their disapproval of homosexuality, but tries to punish it in a way that does not begin to “cure” it at all.
Violating a person in such a way is horrible, cruel and it can lead to severe physiological problems of the victim. Rape is not beneficial to society and it is not agreed upon by both parties, but instead forced upon on the one not in agreement. Rape is not only with women, but also with children and men. There are those who specifically target women because they know they can overpower them if they need to in order to get their way. Children or minors may lack the judgment needed for valid consent.
Last but not least, parents have to face the ridicule from society and family members also when their child is homosexual. It is not something easy to live
Traditionally, extending federal criminal law and moral legislation reserved to states that revealed many vices of over-criminalization. The common features are excessive unchecked discretion for enforcement authorities and inevitable disparity among similarly situated people. However, other areas of society argue they are against sodomy and same sex marriages because of having traditional views that these laws preserve order in society. Nevertheless, another area certain to bring about argument is gay marriages take away from cultural values and set bad examples to the nations youth. Anti-gay groups oppose gay couples adopting children because of having parents of the same sex and this is more harmful than having no parents.
The concept of sexuality is very complex; however, society often looks at it in a very simplistic way. For centuries homosexuality has been a taboo topic, especially because of the lack of information on it. Society has expressed that homosexuality was unnatural and in the mid-1900s the DSM categorized homosexuals as having a psychological condition. The DSM, an abbreviation for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, regarding homosexuality, has attracted controversy and criticism over the years and people who belong to the LGB community have been ridiculed against for something that doesn’t fully relate to them. Homosexuality is not a psychological condition; with research disproving this prior theory, many actions have been
This is due to HIV being believed to have originated from Africa. Lack of education about these opinions equals negative attitudes and negative attitudes equals discrimination. Many individuals living with these infections are discriminated against whether it being missing out on a job vacancie or signing up for life insurance as a lot of insurance companies will not insure a HIV, hepatitis b and c person. I personally think its disgusting and I think these individuals should be treated as any other individual within society. I strongly feel more needs to be done to prevent this.
