As Mike ran he heard the sound of cracking under his feet. He stopped. All of the sudden the floor gave out and Charlie ran after him to try and save him. The whole in the floor was covered in flames and there was no chance of saving Mike, but Charlie was still going to try. Mike and Charlie had been good friends since Mike had been hired by the fire department.
This picture is of the Kerosene that Montag uses to burn books. This is something that he always smells like because it almost never goes away and he uses it every day at work. It is also used to burn a woman who refuses to be separated from her books when the firemen come to burn them. The eighth picture Is of a ventilation system that Montag originally uses to hide his books. The ninth picture in this page is of rain because Clarisse likes to dance around in it and tilted her head up to taste it which seems weird to the people of Montag’s society because they would not normally do this.
As Lennie gathered his wits George was walking to the child. George said “hey kid what happenin'?” the boy said “Mister the town party is happening this night, you should come you could meet a nice gir- just as Lennie walked back over he ripped the paper from the kids hands, but the boy held his grip and the paper ripped. The boy said “hey since this giant basterd ripped it your paying for it now” the boy then started to punch Lennie in
They would play under it, Amir would read stories for Hassan under it, he taught Hassan how to read and write under it and I think the last time they were under it was when Amir was throwing the pomegranates at Hassan so they left it on a bad note. That pomegranate tree was a place where Amir could be himself and not worry about what other people thought of him for hanging out with Hassan and therefore their relationship under that tree was a more real and intense. I think what he meant by the tree not having fruits for years was that their happiness under that tree gave it life and how Hassan wanted that relationship
The Book begins with an in depth description of Guy Montag (Our introduced “Anti-Hero”) burning books. He describes the various pleasures that he gets from burning said books in a way that is not only beautiful… but haunting with sentences like “his hands were the hands of some amazing conductor playing all the symphonies of blazing and burning to bring down the tatters and charcoal ruins of history”. The book didn’t go into detail about whose books he was burning but I don’t think Guy even cared to know. Guy who is now headed home (oddly by foot) gets the feeling that he is being watched! He is then greeted by his new neighbor by the name Clarisse McClellan.
The citizens then retaliated by destroying Mr. Johnson’s store and his prized artwork. Although the consequences were dire, it is safe to say that he was determined to show the citizens how beautiful art can be. He was so determined that even after the rules for the colored were issued, he and Bud created a marvelous masterpiece in the middle of the city. Accordingly, the painting ultimately demonstrated to the community how the influence of the two teenagers had on the entire community. Furthermore, to actually make
Lord of the Flies – Assignment Right VS Wrong In the novel “Lord of the Flies” the kids did both right and wrong things. The right things that they boys did are: for example in chapter 2 Ralph finds a conch and decides to use it for calling all the other boys to plan out the things that they are going to do to survive instead of playing with it like an amateur , that is one example of a right thing that they did. Another example is that in chapter 4 again Ralph decides to use the fire that the hunters and others were using for roasting the pig as a sign for help/hope on top of the mountain. The wrong things that the boys did are: in chapter 7 after not getting the pig, the hunters decided to play a game where they pretend the pig was Robert
Willie becomes annoyed and upset, so Uncle Tadpole decides to make it up to Willie and somehow take him to Broome. He jumps in front of a VW ‘Kombi’ van, to guilt the drivers into taking them to Broome. On the way to Broome, they start singing ‘Feel Like Going Back Home’. The prop of the 'Kombi' van represents freedom and being able to follow life paths because of the colours and words on the outside of it, the colours are bright and intriguing. The bright lighting of the scene represents that Willie is finding happiness and determining his own life path, as he made the decision to go back home.
Cherry is smart and dreamy like Ponyboy, and they have a good conversation. Seven Excerpt Responses “You cant win against them no matter how hard you try because they’ve got all the breaks and even whipping them isn't going to change the fact.” Chapter 1, Page 11 In this scene in the story, Ponyboy is asking His older brother Darry if he can participate int he gang rumble. Ponyboy recently got hurt in a church fire so Darry thinks it would be good for him to stay out of the fight but Ponyboy still really wants to. I think this excerpt is important to the story because it shows how daring and how Darry is telling Ponyboy with all mighty. It is a form of hyperbole because it is exaggerating what is going to happen.
I meant to hit you just hard enough to knock you down and put out the fire.” (P.124). “But I remembered Dally pulling Johnny through the window of the burning church,” (p.154). Dallas was the one who gave Ponyboy and Johnny a gun so they could defend themselves in Windrixville. This could have resulted in a lot of trouble for Dallas with the police but this showed how he would do anything to protect the ones he loves. “Dally giving us his gun, although it could mean jail for him.” (p.154).
