The Iraq Study Group Report- A Rhetorical Analysis Al-Qaeda, Taliban, Islamic Militants and Mujahideen. These are all titles which have come to dominate and bring fear to many people around the world. A global war is is being fought, a war that has been slowly brewing and gathering strength since the fall of the last Caliphate, the Ottoman Empire. Perhaps the first modern face of what we now call Islamists was an Egyptian man by the name of Sayed Qutb, whose teachings would later be known to some as Qutbism which had similar goals as other revolutionaries which was to improve the lives of people with the overthrow of oppressive governments and the installation of just ones. Currently most if not all the superpowers in the world are involved in a fight against Islamic militants, this includes Russia fighting militants in Chechnya and surrounding areas since the early 90’s or China and the Philippines fighting a growing Islamic insurgency in their own land as well as…show more content…
