The book Queen Bees and Wannabes is not a novel but actually a guide to surviving cliques, gossip, boyfriends and other realities of adolescence. Upon discovering the book was not a story I was rather disappointed because Mean Girls, is one of my favourite movies and I would have very much liked to have read the story behind the movie. However once I started reading Rosalind Wiseman’s guide, I was surprised to be enjoying myself. I have never before read a self help or guide to surviving something type of book and so I thought it would be boring and uninteresting. I found I could relate to what the author was saying about being a teenager and many of the studies and information she gives were interesting and I found myself saying oh that’s true, teenagers do, do that.
I like the movie better because it gives you a better understanding of the poem. I like the movie because you can see what going on and that help me rather than reading the book. 2. What have you learned about The American Dream that you didn’t know before September? What I learned about the American Dream before September was that I didn’t know everybody had a dream and most of them are not accomplish.
I believe the director leaves this out in fear that this incident would change the viewers’ perspective of Tea Cake and Janie’s relationship. The absence of this scene in the movie shows evidence of the author’s true intention of creating a love story. In the novel, Tea Cake was about to bite Janie right before she shot him, but the movie does not include this. I think the director
Lastly Charlie’s friends were not as mean to him in the movie as they were in the book. The similarities and differences between the story “Flowers for Algernon” and the movie “Charly” are many. There were so many similarities between the book and the movie such as; in both the book and movie Charlie falls in love with Ms. Kinnian. There were also many differences between the book and the movie such as; instead of
What I didn’t like in the movie and I am sure it had the same effect on the other watchers is that we don’t get to experience the pain a handmaid should be going thru. while I was reading the novel, I could imagine and almost feel everything offred is going thru because it was explained in details and because offred herself was the protagonist. But in the movie I didn’t feel like she suffered a lot. Everyday there was something. A visit by the doctor, a ceremony and so on.
In The Odyssey Circe was one to Odysseus about his up coming obstacles. The movie had a similar person, who didn’t have a name. Even though the sirens are mythical creatures, they are still put into the movie. Obviously this book and movie aren’t exactly the same but the similarities are kind of easy to point out. Odysseus’ whole journey is to return home and be with his wife and son again.
Compare and contrast Essay Movie studios produce films out of novels in order to make money from the success of the novel, a number of people would also want to have a look at their favorite novel in a film version and see their favorite characters come to life. Plus, there are very limited numbers of original ideas left to think of anymore in the present day; most of the possible ideas had been made into films long before. When filming a novel, the main things that the film makers have to consider is to make the film’s storyline as similar to the book as possible. The advantages that the film version has over the book version is takes much less time to watch, more exhilarating, has real-life images and more action – more suspense. Contrasting, there are also some disadvantages that the film version has; for instance, it consists of not as much details, not exactly the same as the original, characters’ thought are restricted, etc.
Like in the book House on Mango Street when Esperanza said, “we didn’t always live on Mango Street. Before that we lived on Voomia on the third floor and before that we lived on Keeler, and before Keeler it was Paulina and before that I can’t even remember.”(Cisnero3) this quote supports my thesis because they always have to keep moving into different house and can’t afford to buy one. Another reason why people don’t achieve their dreams is because of their financial state. In the book A Raisin in the Sun, Beneatha wanted money for school so she can be a doctor, but mama didn’t have the money for school so Beneatha had to work harder to maybe get a scholarship. This evidence connects with my thesis by mama not being able to afford to spend money to help Beneatha with the money to go to school to help achieve her dreams of going to school.
The Fair Housing Act of 1968 helped abolish the discrimination due to it prohibiting discrimination in sales and rentals of housing. In the play A Raisin in the Sun one key factor of living the American Dream would be to purse living in a quality house in a desirable neighborhood. However, in this play the American Dream of the Younger family became very difficult due to discrimination. In the play A Raisin in the Sun, Lorraine Hansberry portrays all members of the Younger family with different ideas of their American Dream. Mama and Ruth had a similar idea of their dream.
The Younger family lived in poor conditions, and can't afford to have better living standards. However, Lena is waiting to receive a $10,000 check from her late-husbands insurance money. The two main characters in the play, Mama and Walter, want this money to be used for the benefits of the whole family. Even though both of them want to benefit the family, each one has a different idea of what to do with the money and how to manage it to benefit everyone. The main conflicts in this film are both internal and external.
