Decisions by the president of the United States shape the American culture and define what it is to be an American. One president, in particular who shaped America was none other then our 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Looking back and analyzing President Lincoln can be a complex and tantalizing task. With every president comes responsibility. With their actions presidents like Lincoln will be questioned and judged through all of American history.
But all leaders need some kind of limitation, which is where the Separation of Powers comes in. The Separation of Powers creates the three branches of government: Legislative, Executive and Judicial, each with their own system of powers and regulations. The Legislative branch has the powers to create, amend, and change laws. The Executive branch carries out the laws created by the legislature, and is where the president resides. And the Judicial branch explains the laws as well as checking to make sure all laws are constitutional.
The primary role of the legislative branch is to create laws. Representatives meet to discuss ideas (bills) and determine if they should become laws (Truman Library, 2009). The proper focus for lawmakers is on the nature of the actions in question, not their own personal preferences (Ruggiero, 2008 pg. 4). The President of the United States administers the Executive branch of our government (Truman Library, 2009).
In the United States public leadership roles range from community organizer, leader, state representative, city council, mayor governor, senator, congress and of course, the highest seat of official leadership, president. I recently read a powerful quote that did not have the author’s name at the end. Despite the question of authorship, the quote was a stark reminder of the current rolling coin of change taking place in America. Each president was presented with a unique set of challenges, but they all responded according to their own theories and beliefs. Many of these decisions were made on a global level as the United States was just beginning to take the shape of a world power. The foreign policies of these presidents and their actions in Latin America and the Pacific clear display the characteristics of a
However Barack Obama and Mitt Romney both have the potential to run for president, but the two of them has some of the same traits and some of the same qualities. Both the Republican Party and the Democrat party have some good idea when it comes to run the county. However Barack Obama is more consistent with his statement with the press. When it comes to Mitt Romney he changes his statement throughout the public debates and how he plans to run America if he is voted President. Kyle Orciuch Mrs. Karotkki English 8-6 9 Sept. 2013 The Head of State Being the President of the United States is not an easy task. Our current President, Barrack Hussein Obama, for example, has hundreds of issues thrown at him every day, animosity from opposing politicians, and has to meet stringent expectations from the people who elected him. As one can see, any leader needs to have certain qualities that allow him to effectively and diplomatically identify and solve problems. Recently, I was asked about my outlook on the kind of leader I would be if I were the President of the United States and what policies I would implement. I have never even dreamed of being President because of all the heavy burdens that come with the job.
