Each of them found sports, mainly football as an escape. After going over some speed bumps in their attempt to become professional athletes they achieved stardom through great physical ability. After getting to the NFL each of these players became infatuated with attention. Changing hair styles, last names, and demanding more money when already making more than enough for playing a game, are some ways that shows how much these two need the attention. Also, both Johnson and Owens excessively celebrated when a touchdown was scored.
The Industrial revolution had a massive impact upon all the classes in Britain and in turn affected the growth of association football. One factor was that there was now more time for sport to be performed/watched, this came because both Saturday and Wednesday were designated as half days, and this increase in free time allowed games such as football to be played more often and by a larger group of people. This boom in big industry meant an increase in the wages of the working class, this in turn meant that they could afford to pay for transport to games as well as the entrance fee to the ground. The industrial revolution also brought with it a vast increase in the british transportation system, most namely the rail network, this allowed teams to travel around the country and play against many different teams, this also led to an increase in the frequency of matches as because of this transport system leagues were able to be set up. Public schools also had a significant, arguably the most significant, influence on the development of association football.
Paying College Football Players During this day in age, everything is about money and college sports are not different. College football is a billion dollar industry and everyone benefits except the athletes who are risking it all. With the millions of dollars in television deals, endorsements, advertisements, and schools benefits that everyone is benefiting from except the football players. What are the college players actually receiving? College football players need to be paid for putting their careers on the line one play at a time.
The fact is, almost every American watches some sort of professional sport, and most on a regular basis. What is it that makes the sports of this level so popular amongst people? It’s just that, the level. The level of play is top notch, the cream of the crop, the best of the best. Whether you’re watching LeBron James leaping over a defender on his way to the rim, or Tiger Woods recording an eagle on the longest hole of the tour, it’s easy to say that pro athletes are the epitome of amazing (sports wise that is).
National football league is a very high price market and it product is valuable beyond means. Economically the national football league gross nearly 9 billion dollars in total revenues last year. So this summer the (NFL) officials decided to strike because they felt weren't being paid enough compared to what the league was grossing yearly. A source stated from a union official that it would cost the N.F.L just 3.2 million annually, if the league met all of the demands a fraction of the 9 billion (New York Times). The referees had not been trained properly and were thrower in to the pot.
The Superbowl is an event that sports enthusiasts look forward to and love to attend at least one time in their lives. The combination of the action on the field, the entertainment at halftime, and the unveiling of the year's new commercials bring sports fans and non-sports fans in front of their televisions to witness the three and a half hour spectacle. There are a few reasons to explain why football is the most popular sport in America today. The entertainment value is unmatched compared to other major sports. There are bone crushing tackles, spectacular catches, precise throws, running backs breaking tackles for long gains, and the strength and athletic ability of all positions (except kickers and punters, of course) to make plays for their team.
Are footballers paid too much? Premiership footballers are amongst the richest people in today’s society. With their hundreds of millions of pounds, and the county in recession, I think that professional footballers are paid too much for they actually do to earn the extraordinary amount of money. The average wage of a footballer is £33868 per week, meaning that they earn, on average, in excess of £1.7 million per year. This is outrageous in comparison to the average wage of an average male earning £30724 per year and the average female earning £23967 (statistics from thisislondon.com).
Discrimination in Football There is a clear discrimination against African American head coaches in Division 1a NCAA Football. The fact of the matter is most college administrators and alumni fear a black man in a position of authority. Why is this starting to become a trend? Anyone desiring to become a head football coach on the NCAA Football level had a lesser chance statistically than those seeking to become head coach in the NFL, NCAA basketball or even a general in the U.S. Army. There are numerous components that coaches must have in order to become a head coach in Division 1a NCAA Football. To be blunt, the color of one’s skin is the biggest factor.

When our country is in need of millions of dollars, why not take some from the sports-entertainment business; it seems they have money to burn. Sports athletes are paid outrageous amounts of money to produce the simple entertainment of a game, while the most respected positions in society are robbed of the money that they deserve. Running a country seems to be a lesser duty than kicking a field goal, but if the public wants it, you can watch it. The supply and demand factor will continue as long as the demand is there; but when will our society put an end to this
