Football is an entertainment activity which pulls millions, or rather, billions of people in because it has simple rules that everyone can understand. At the very beginning it was just a game. However in time it turned into a big industry in which a lot of money has been spent. People have had such a strong passion for football that team managers can pay huge amounts of money for a good player like Cristiano Ronaldo, who was transferred from Manchester United to Real Madrid with the worth of £80 million. The more the managers have new foreign players played in their teams, the more the fans participate in football, and vice versa. But many teams might not afford such good players since this cycle requires a lot of money. Therefore, they seek talented but cheap players. As a result of this, a football market is formed. In this market, there may be, and of course are, many advantages and disadvantages for the football players who migrate, particularly for those who migrate to totally different countries from theirs. In his article “How Soccer Explains the Black Carpathians”, Franklin Foer tells us several stories, showing these advantages and disadvantages, about Edward Anyamkyegh, an African migrant football player. When looked at his case from outside, it can be seen that the managers, the team players don’t take the responsibility of helping him to integrate into the society and make him isolated.
