According to Merriam-Webster greed is a selfish and excessive desire for more of something than is needed. Greedy people flaunt what they have as if it is some sort of game. Every day we wake up we choose between the right thing and the convenient thing, always caving in for greed. Greed is never good unless it’s benefiting us, right? Greed of money is a part of human nature and all of us at times can be tempted to put aside our values just in order to get ahead of someone else. The greed for money is a sin that leads to a wide range of serious and violent crimes from theft to murder. The love for money can be a destructive force if we allow it to be. A Christmas Carol is a tale about Ebenezer Scrooge, a stingy and greedy businessman who has zero kindness or compassion. In modern times you’ll find a wealthy executive of a company receive an obscene bonus while telling employees that the company hasn’t done well enough to support annual employee raises. Why? Because they’re greedy. We are such a competitive society. We measure success by finishing first place. We idolize people who drive expensive cars and live in luxurious homes. Greedy or not, we all help peperpetuate the addiction. Not being greedy will lead to a much more beautiful life verses being greedy. Generous people believe that you gain more in life by giving rather than taking. Greedy people can never be satisfied, they’re like sharks that spend their entire life hunting and consuming.
