A celebrity's job is worthless. Discuss The word celebrity has a rather general meaning - a well-known person. However, it does carry a connotation of a person likely to appear in a tabloid magazine or in other forms of gutter press. These celebrities are usually actors, singers, dancers, socialites, television hosts, even reality television contestants though once in a while the exclusive circle allows in a director, a politician or someone else who does not necessarily make a living out of being in the spotlight. In my opinion, it is immaterial what a person does for an occupation. There will always be jobs of a higher importance and jobs of less significance. I personally feel that a celebrities job, though not valued very highly, certainly cannot be classified as worthless. A common misrepresentation and misinterpretation of celebrities is that they earn their money easily therefore their job is worthless. (TS1) Of course the optimum amount they should be receiving is debatable, however dealing with the issue at hand, a celebrities job is not as frivolous as it is surmised to be. For example, acting is regarded by a large number of the poorly informed public as a relatively easy art. Many think all you have to do is read line with intonation and if needed, an accent. Many do not realize that an actor is required to throw away all that he is and immerse himself into another character altogether. An actor is required, for every role that he or she plays, to become a different person in spirit, in mannerisms, in the way he thinks, in the way he responds and in the way he feels. It is one of the most grueling occupations and as so aptly put by Antonin Artaud, “The actor is an athlete of the heart”. Singing and dancing and hosting are not any easier.
