Research Article Analysis Paper Abstract The abstract is a detailed description including the study problem, the particular patient population studied, the method of study used and a brief description of the results. The authors present the question and significant results of that question within the abstract. The abstract would have been strengthened by clearly stating the sample size and conclusion of the research. Introduction The authors of the research article found it important to educate nurses directly working with renal disease on end-of-life issues. They felt these patients were not getting proper education and assistance ensuring the wishes were being carried out.

Since communication errors can result in significant problems in a healthcare setting, knowing how to effectively communicate and to apply communication tools within the organization is important. Communication skills (Essence of Care benchmark) INTRODUCTION As care is the basic ingredient for good nursing similarly good communication skill is necessary for good nursing. If any failure occurs during the communication with the patient it will lead to the breaking of essential relationship that exist between the two that is nurse and patient thus the trust which exist between them slowly disappears. Sometimes poor and ineffective communication can lead to the wrong diagnosis as well as medications error thus making it dangerous for the life of the patients and miseries for their family members. Even though much progress has been done in this sector, but still complain always comes from the middle men as well as the patient families regarding communication gap and related problems, thus demanding that the communication skills study should be incorporated in a different curriculum in nursing domain rather than including it in the same curriculum where they have to read other things especially related to medical sector a lot. ( RECKER ET AL, 1994) But it is not that easy as it seems to carry the communication procedure.
Alarm Fatigue in Health Care: A Concept Analysis Chamberlain College of Nursing NR-501: Theoretical Basis for Advanced Nursing Practice Alarm Fatigue in Health Care: A Concept Analysis Alarm fatigue in health care has grown to be an ever-growing concern in the health care arena, especially when looking at patient safety concerns. There must be an understanding of the problem before we can develop policies and effective strategies to counter this problem. The concept of alarm fatigue in health care will be evaluated utilizing the method developed by Walker and Avant (2010) that identifies and gives the significance of the attributes, antecedents, and end-consequences of alarm fatigue in health care. This will be developed based off of literature review, along with the use of model and contradictory cases to emphasize the data discovered in the review stage. Key words utilized during the search include alarm, fatigue, alarm fatigue, nursing, interruptions, & distractions.
Problem Statement Nurses play an important role in preventing pressure ulcers. The development, progression, and regression of pressure ulcers are linked to early prevention and awareness of the nurses caring for the patient. Previously conducted studies have identified a break in the care trajectory of the patient. The article, “Factors of Importance to the Development of Pressure Ulcers in the care Trajectory: Perceptions of Hospital and Community Care Nurses” discusses the weak point in the care trajectory using a qualitative design study. Understanding this weakness through the perception of the nurses can improve patient outcomes; this is the research problem in the study.
The way in which a nurse practices can greatly affect the outcome of the patient (Potter & Perry, 2006). For this reason, nursing practices based on theories and concepts should be researched. The process of using concepts, theories, research and practices to form rationales usually begins with a concept or theory and is cyclic in nature, as each component may lead to the other (see Appendix A). In the nursing profession, several concept-directed theories guide both research and practice. The purpose of this paper is to select and analyze one of the many nursing theories that exist.
Abstract Comfort is an important concept in nursing practice that must be used as a guide in providing holistic care to improve patient’s health status. In the history of nursing practice, the concept of comfort is vague and is often times linked to end of life situations only. Dr. Katharine Kolcaba, a teacher and a nurse researcher, developed the theory of comfort with the goal of improving the patient’s experience and overall satisfaction as well as to promote higher hospital integrity and better institutional outcomes. This paper informed the reader of the concept of Comfort Theory, its strengths and weaknesses including the barriers and challenges met when using the theory, its application and implication to critical care setting, and its relevance to healthcare professionals and to the health care system. Further on, the plan to implement the theory in critical care nursing was presented.

Although nurses are rapidly adapting to new technology and their ability to give exceptional care to their patients. “Nurses have great potential to lead innovative strategies to improve the health care system. However, a variety of historical, regulatory, and policy barriers have limited nurses’ ability to contribute to widespread transformation (Kimball and O’Neil, 2002).” There are numbers of health care institution have put limitation and regulation on their nurses, some of this regulation are imposed by state law. Safety in Nursing. Safety in Nursing According to Gordon, Darbyshire, and Baker (2012), “Extensive work in high-stakes industries has demonstrated that improving safety is not just about enhancing knowledge or skills, but also concerns the addressing of human factors and poor performance of non-technical skills that can lead to errors.” Safety has and will continue to play a vital role in nursing. It does not apply to only the patients, but also the nurses. This paper will address different safety techniques and how it affects the patients and their care-givers. Safety Techniques Nurses need to know and apply proper hand washing techniques, wear gloves during patient care, and use anti-bacterial hand lotion or soap.

Thus, I will discuss the impact of inadequate nursing documentation that leads to malpractice lawsuits. Purpose of Medical Record Documentation Understanding the purpose of medical documentation was the first step in teaching how to prevent inadequate documentations that leads to liability and malpractice lawsuits. Monarch (2007) supports the purpose of Medical Record Documentation as the following: • Substantiating the health condition or illness or presented concern for the patient. • Effective communication among health care staff.
