Spencer Kagan, Patricia Kyle, and Sally Scott provide that disruptions and misbehaviors can be prevented by, “An interesting, stimulating teacher who adapts the curriculum to student interests and needs” (Charles, 2008, p. 155). Engaging lessons are extremely important in an overpopulated classroom because of the larger number of students and the resulting larger potential for misbehavior. Another reason engaging lessons are important is because it is a preemptive strike against some students lack of motivation. Unmotivated students influence the teaching environment negatively for the obvious reason that they are not giving their best effort. With an unmotivated student the material is unlikely to be learned or retained and
What makes an effective primary classroom? Discuss and debate with reference to research and wide reading, including journals, books and other media During this essay I will look at several areas of schooling, all of which have an impact on making the classroom a productive place for children to learn. Getting the right balance of all factors in the classroom is vital in maintaining and progressing a child’s intelligence. Running head: Benchmark Assessment EDU 536-Week 8 Classroom Engagement and Management This essay will give instruction of how a classroom should be managed. Classroom management may be influenced by a large variety of things. The classroom is where a teacher should be able to teach kids in a structured setting with few distractions. However, this is not always the case. There are many negative situations which often happen in a structured setting, such as the classroom, that causes teachers to have to do more than just teach.
The classroom teachers are a leading force in charting the academic journey of struggling students that lead to educational success. They assist administrators, other teachers, and parents in creating and maintaining a healthy environment conducive to learning for students. They also help students navigate through mental, medical, and home-life issues to meet the academic demands of school by tackling the cultural and linguistic differences of students head on. Planning With Cultural and Linguistically Differences in the Classroom What general theory exists in the literature on planning, implementing and managing the differentiated instruction? While differentiation is acknowledged to be a compelling and effectual means of restructuring the traditional classroom to include students of diverse abilities, interests and learning profiles, the philosophy is lacking in realistic validation.
The professional development meetings inform the teachers of how to incorporate rigorous learning into their lessons and also explains what the district expects to see from the staff. To meet the goals of our action plan, the teachers need to align their lessons with the core curriculum. Professional development helps them stay on task with these strategies. Principals also use out-of-district professional development classes to refine any weaknesses of the teachers in our school building. For example, if a teacher has a hard time with classroom management, our principal will suggest a professional development to address classroom management skills for that particular teacher.

According to Wilson (2009), roles describe functions of teachers. These could include: planning and preparation for the running of the class; designing different and interesting ways to deliver the lesson; assessing (evaluating) the impact of the learning and whether it has been transferred to the learner; maintaining a safe teaching/learning environment; marking the work of learners; giving constructive feedback; and record keeping. There is more detail on the types of records teachers need to maintain in the attached learning pack under ‘Teaching/training cycle’. As well as compliance with legislation and regulations i.e. Health and Safety and those of awarding bodies regarding standards of work or teaching (where there is no room for negotiation), ground rules can be created in a variety of ways i.e.

During a time when the news is laden with reports of naughty children, schools must endeavor to employ educators willing to go above and beyond the call of simply teaching students within a classroom. Our schools are full of good teachers who go to work, teach what is in a textbook and leave at the end of the day. An effective teacher, however, understands the importance of their job and discovers ways to educate effectively. All teachers are kind, caring and understanding, but the difference is, effective teachers are passionate about their jobs and develop a number of strategies to ensure their students, like them, develop a love for learning. To be effective, teachers must create positive environments, motivate students, develop well planned lessons, communicate effectively and regularly reflect upon themselves.
