Then at the age of 6 he took his first airplane ride in a Ford Tri- Motor Airplane. At 15 he worked in various jobs in order to pay for his flying lessons (Neil Armstrong). Before Neil could even drive he had is students pilots licenses. When Neil was done with high school he received a scholarship from the U.S. Navy and then attended aeronautical engineering at Prude University. After his collage career he went straight into the military.
He got into the field because he had technical assignments with space station operations. But he officially decided to become an astronaut when he was a pilot in the U.S Air Force. In the Air Force he flew 144 missions in the Vietnam War. The first mission
The United States tried to out-do Soviet Union’s space missions by landing the very first man on the moon. As a result, NASA came up with the infamous Apollo 1 mission. Many Americans favored the mission, but there were ones who politically disagree with it. The Apollo mission was launched in 1969, carrying 2 man including Neil Armstrong onto the moon. This successful mission led Americans to believe that they won the unofficial race, but the Soviets differ by claiming that launching the first man to space makes them the victors.

That achievement might be a dream or something even bigger. One of the dreams that Americans have is to actually get off the planet earth and see the outer universe. But one of the first things they wanted to accomplish is to actually land on the moon. It was first succeeded by the soviets in 1966, but the Americans did try to land a few years before that, but failed.
There are few scientists that have been renowned for causing great change in the United States, and Dr. Wernher von Braun was one of those. In addition, he was arguably one of most important scientists of the twentieth century. There is much that has come from the actions of this one man. The U.S. military was able to attain some of the world’s best rockets, and gained a critical edge in the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union. Von Braun was also a strong advocate for space programs and inspired many individuals through determination and perseverance to shoot for their dreams.
I think that this mission impacted the world because it was more of a dry run then anything. It was a practice to see how every played out and the fact that it all worked out in everyone's favor gave society hope that maybe one day we would be able to travel in space. During this time period the United States and the Soviet Union were also trying to be the first to put people on the moon. The Space Race officially started October 4th, 1957 when the Soviets sent the Sputnik which was the first official satellite sent into space. Now the United States was afraid of what the Soviets could do with control of space so within months the United States sent up their own satellite and the race had begun. Throughout the space race the Soviet Union seemed to have the advantage and was seemingly going to make it to space first. They had the first satellite, the first manmade object to orbit the sun, the first manmade object to impact the moon, the first man and women in space, they had the first ever space walk, the first manmade object to impact venus, and the first satellite to orbit the moon.
The Space Race between the United States of America and Soviet Union during the Cold War was not only a race between two “nuclear” countries, but much more a contest between two geniuses: Wernher von Braun and Sergey Korolyov. We have heard different opinions about the winner of this race, but thanks to the BBC’s documentary the big picture became a lot clearer for me, although there are still some questions for me- which one of two geniuses would be the winner of the race and how people suffered because of paying taxes that went directly to “nowhere” ? After World War II, it became obvious that the world will be divided in two: capitalistic and communistic countries. Both sides, especially communists, desperately needed to show the people in their countries that their society system is better than the other one. The first selection would have been war, but as both (U.S and Soviets) had nuclear weapons, the risk for a global disaster was too big.
I am transferring to the University of Texas at Austin to study aerospace engineering and I have been accepted there within two days of my application. I will definitely study about the planes, its structures, air movement but my dream is working with NASA in the process of sending people
Ellis Jr. was an early pioneer in physics, he was born in the year 1924 and he passed away in 1989 on December 15th at the age of sixty two. Ellis received his Master of Science degree at Yale University. After receiving his Master's Robert Ellis taught at Tennessee A&I. Robert Ellis then went to earn his doctorate at the University of Iowa. Robert Ellis was head of experimental projects at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory up until 1956. Upon obtaining his PhD, Ellis returned to Tenessee A&I as a professor a few years before joining in the year 1956 a group working on controlled fusion, Project Matterhorn in Princeton.
