STRATEGIES TO COMBAT YOUTH VIOLENCE: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PERSPECTIVE A.LOUIS AROCKIARAJ* Dr. J.M.ARUL KAMARAJ** INTRODUCTION It is well proved that youth have very special role in any countries development. India has the largest youth population and if we look on the past youth plays a very important role in Indian freedom fights and right from then it was well recognized that the youth power is very essential in the development of India and to make our country a better place to live. In Indian history we can take the example of Swami Vivekananda a youth icon. He taught us what a young must have as values of life. Similarly Bhagat Singh was the youngest freedom fighter who sacrificed his life for the freedom of our motherland. Apart from these many more inspiring actions are there which is done by the youth of India. Today if we look upon the present conditions of the country it is still in developing mode. Young people are full of vibrant ideas. When properly motivated and sufficiently guided they want in their life. The youth can play a vital role in eliminating social problems in our country. Proper utilization of knowledge and resources help in eradicating such problems in our country. If the energy, intelligence and resources of youth are fully and properly utilized the country will prosper. YOUTH VIOLENCE FACTORS Violence is defined by the World Health Organization as the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against a person, or against a group or community that either results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, or deprivation. Violence - in its multiple forms - is prevalent in far too many homes, schools, workplaces, and communities.
