The acronym YOLO was first popularly introduced to us by Drake in his song “The Motto.” The song talks about how we should party everyday, drink as much as we can, and do what we want. The problem is that the whole world has interpreted YOLO in this way. Many people have unthinkable and extremely crazy activities or dares in the name of YOLO. An example could be the movie “Project X”. However there are several different ways on how to base your life on YOLO and this is not the one that I support. The YOLO I support and base my life upon is the YOLO that means that you only have one chance to reach your goals and one chance to make thing right with the ones you care about. “When embracing the YOLO attitude, you should always treat people with kindness and respect, but also be assertive and willing to speak your mind. Stand behind your values and fight for the things you believe in (Zimmer).” What I mean by this is to have an effective, satisfying and productive plan for your life and live the life you want to live. This means working hard for your goals and reaching them. That will give you a feeling that you’ve done well in life. If you live your life sitting around in your house waiting to win the lottery to buy something you’ve always wanted you’ll be a failure of a person. “A man who becomes conscious of the responsibility he bears toward a human being who affectionately waits for him, or to an unfinished work, will never be able to throw away his life. He knows the ‘why’ of his existence, and will be able to bear almost any ‘how’” (Smith). If you’ve always wanted to have a brand new car and it takes you eight years to save up for it you’ve made your life worth something. “Even if you come from a wealthy family and you receive everything you want, you can still make accomplish something.
