Solutions to problems usually do not come easy. They usually take time and someone's hard effort to invoke change and add in the failures to come up with the proper resolutions. One hot topic is the issue of education, which is at the forefront of President Obama's administration these days. How much, how long, who should have it and why are our children being out ranked by outside nations when it comes to education tests scores? The answer to these questions is already in existence today. Executing year-round schooling throughout the United States makes the most sense for President Obama to reach his "An Achievable Dream"(Clark, 2010, p. 10) concept. As I have stated implementing year-round schooling provides substantial benefits to the students, educators, administrators and community. Year-round schooling is the solution to overcrowding, wasteful summers, and continuity of education for the students. The first year-round school was established in 1968 in California and is still in use today. Discussions of year-round schooling date back to the 1960's it became the solution to overcrowding when this matter arose (Chittom & Klassen, 2011). " In 1983, the National Commission on Excellence in Education published a report called " A Nation at Risk" (Chittom & Klassen, 2011, p.1). due to declining test scores of students. Year-round schooling was again implemented as a means to fix the problem. In 1994, Congress took a long hard look at the standard schooling calendar only to established that it was a dinosaur model and needed to be updated(Clark, 2010).
