This was achieved by the constant promise to the local people of great improvements to their lives, and through other things such as the new recognition to their area, the physical environmental improvements to their area and the new jobs being created all contributed to the widespread feel-good factor. Wealth is brought in externally through sport as international sporting events create lots of one time tourism which brings in enormous amounts of profit into the area and would of course help repay the raw sums of money spent by the government on hosting the Olympic Games. Dorset is the second sunniest place in the UK and its mild winters have few days with frost or snow. This attracts holidaymakers and people who want to move to a warm place. Also the high environmental quality makes people come because it is attractive and is only a few miles away from the UK’s first area of World Heritage Coat (Jurassic Coast). This attracts tourists and people who would like to see the attractive coastline, which follows on to the Jurassic Coast. The accessibility is also very good.
This stimulus package did greatly for China’s growth as its real GDP was at 10% in 2010 and 9.2% in 2011. The stimulus package was used to invest in private and public spending on infrastructure as well as direct investment in Chinese industries. This shows that China wasn’t affected by the ripples of the GFC unlike smaller countries such as Australia. The impact of globalisation in China has helped China maintain a growth of real GDP between 8% to 10%, making it the fourth largest economy in the world, and on purchasing power parity (PPP), it is the second largest economy in the world, after USA.

The U.S. and Chinese government came to an agreement that allowed the development of air cargo hubs and landing rights for commercial airlines in China. This pact not only opened up extensive new opportunities for the airborne market in general, but gave FedEx and United Parcel Service (UPS) exclusive cargo transportation rights (Bruner & Carr, 2010). At the time, FedEx was winning the battle for China, with its Chinese volumes nearly doubling from 2003 to 2004. Despite this, rival UPS still held the title as the world’s largest package-delivery company, and had been active in China since the late 1980’s (Bruner & Carr, 2010). FedEx had only done business in China since 1995 (Roth).
Even though billions of dollars are spent by the country hosting this event, that money benefits the economy of the country and often doubles or triples in return. It boosts the market by creating many job opportunities and improving the infrastructure of the country. For example, London Olympic Games spent about 11.3 billion pounds and more than 130,000 were employed due to this event. According to a report by Lloyds Banking Group, “the economic impact of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games concludes that London 2012 will give the UK economy a £16.5 billion boost by 2017, with the construction and tourism benefitting the most.” Furthermore, the Olympic villages, which had been built to accommodate the athletes, can later be sold – providing another source of income for the country. Subsequently, improving the transportation system, sports facilities and construction all benefit the country and its infrastructure.
