How and when did WWII begin? -WWII began when Nazi (an abbreviation for the National Socialist German Workers’ Party) soldiers from Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. 2. How and when did the U.S. enter the war? -The U.S. entered WWII in because Nazi Germany was sinking American supply ships because, and because Japan attacked the US naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, without a declaration of war or any warning that hostilities were being commenced, sinking most of the battle fleet. 3.
