Benjamin Fowler 11/12/2014 Professor Kendall Lead 1010 Writing and Its connection to Leadership When we look at Leadership we almost immediately connect it to things such as leadership in the military, work force, and the many industries that make up the world of jobs, but one thing we still do not understand is how writing is connected to leadership in the real world and school in this paper we will learn how writing is connected to the art of leadership and its many practices. The first way in which we will learn how writing has made a connection with the art of leadership and its many practices is the way in which it intertwines with the military and how it has helped develop and grow some of the mightiest strategies throughout the history of the world. When working in the military writing is very important because without a written record of how the strategy was made the leader whether it be a high ranking general to the meekest of privates they have all used writing to plan out and create their victorious strategies. For example "The Art of War is mentioned as an example of works to be maintained at each facility, and staff duty officers are obliged to prepare short papers for presentation to other officers on their readings". This first example shows how writing has influenced itself in military leadership because it talks about how the United States department of the army has incorporated Sun Tzu's book the Art Of War into their list of required reading material for all staff sergeants that are required to make special presentations to their commanding officers. The next way in which writing has made a connection with the art of leadership is through news articles and journal writings made by professional writers and news companies.
