Never Forget 9/11 I was sitting in my first grade class on September 11th 2001. I knew that something wasn’t right sitting there wondering. My teacher anxiously picked up that annoying phone and answered it. She started to cry, hearing the information that the twin towers had been attacked. She turned on the tv in the classroom and slowly changed the channel to channel five news.
However, the nation was shocked. Even Martin Luther King Jr, who disagreed with Malcolm X on many issues, sent this letter to Malcolm’s wife, “While we did not always see eye to eye on methods to solve the race problem, I always had a deep affection for Malcolm and felt that he had a great ability to put his finger on the existence and the root of the problem. He was an eloquent spokesman for his point of view and no one can honestly doubt that Malcolm had a great concern for the problems we face as a race.” The assassination was a great blow to the civil rights movement of the 60’s, but with the help of Martin Luther King, the great movement reached heights never seen by the black
Playing with Pestilence Imagine waking up in the morning knowing that this may be the last time you ever wake up. Your whole family has died except for your precious daughter, whom you isolate in a room to prevent her from getting sick. The Black Death is not all to blame, as the typhoid fever is also making a hit. Your daughter hollers that she is thirsty, so you run to the water pump to appeal to her need. Little do you know that you just gave her the water that would soon kill her.
Jihad is supposed to be an internal struggle however; people often confuse it with an external struggle in which they use violence for dominance. “Despite the fact that Jihad is not supposed to include aggressive warfare, this has occurred. Jihad means to counter such threats and assert the predominance of Islam.” Intercollegiate Review; Spring2002, Vol. 37 Issue 2, p24-32, 9p Just and Unjust War in the Terrorist Age. Many people consider Jihad to be a movement which causes a problem in the Muslim community because of the misinterpretation of the religious beliefs.
These illegals come to expect the handouts, which are happily given to them with no questions asked and the people here legally come to resent the government for giving these handouts. Crime rates skyrocket, innocents are hurt and then medical cost skyrocket, thus ending in another viscous cycle. This is a cycle that will only keep repeating itself, unless we as a country strive to change what we are doing and start holding people, all people accountable for their actions. It must be said that if you want to become an American citizen there is a certain protocol that must be followed, and they there are certain, important rules that must be followed, that if these rules are not followed there will be
Imagine being in their position that makes me more thankful for them just to know what they done. They got shot at for us, some even got killed. They have put themselves to danger each day, knowing that they did that for our country is the most amazing thing you could have done. They are the reason we have freedom, how awful would that be? I think it would be pretty awful.
The knowledge that we provided them allowed them to effectively turn four hijacked planes into deadly guided missiles. The tragic and devastating events of 9-11 are something that, from beginning to end, will forever live in the minds of many Americans as well as something that future generations will read about in history books. The unprecedented shock and suffering of a nation that was totally unprepared has created a unity, not only within our
Sikh males usually wear turbans, which are stereotypically associated with Muslims by many Westerners. Being an American myself I could level and understand why other Americans were outraged and upset in result of the 9/11 attacks but I find it disgusting and ignorant that innocent people with mid eastern decent were being targeted and discriminated because of there ethnicity. I feel as though this proves that we are no better than Al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups who fight fire with fire. Instead of actually making a difference and being a positive influence for your country and the new
When I arrived home there was a feeling that had come over me that this could actually be our last day on earth if these attacks kept occurring. When I got into my bedroom I didn’t even want to watch the television. Later on that night I turned on the television and saw reports of people jumping from the burning towers, that is when I finally broke down and starting crying. I personally did not know anyone who had lost their life that horrible day, but have friends who lost loved ones and cannot understand the grief that they must have been feeling. This day has truly affected my life by seeing how people come together when a big catastrophe happens.
But, just because a few Muslim extremists committed a heinous crime the name Muslim has been forever tainted. Polls have shown that 93% of Muslims don’t support extremist views on terrorism and a rising number of Muslims have been actively speaking out against terrorism – something our media fails to mention. The thing is, we didn't really give Muslims a second thought until a select few deeply affected us. Now the reputation of all Muslims is forever negative because a few ill-minded people happened to be born
