Research Paper on ______________________ A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle By Kevin Le A Wrinkle in Time is a book that demonstrates a theme that love is a powerful force that humans use to combat evil and an ongoing battle between good versus evil, in the universe. All of the characters in the novel are clearly identified as "good" or "bad." The main character in this novel is Meg Murry, “a girl neither beautiful nor graceful nor socially gifted, yet entrusted with a dangerous and salvific mission.”(Sally Thomas 16) Her dad, Mr.Murry disappears out of the blue and Meg is in a desperate search for him. Throughout the book Meg gets the help of her smart little brother Charles Wallace and a high school boy name Calvin O’Keefe who is he is impressed by the close, loving relationship Mrs. Murry has with her children, in contrast to his own mother. Mrs. Murry wants to figure out what exactly happen to her husband, Mr. Murry who is actually in the future and is captured by evil an presences called “IT”. Along the beginning of the book Meg shows that she loves her missing father as you can tell by the quote “Meg looks in the falling stars and wishing to know where her father is” (L'Engle 23). But what you don’t know is that the stars are people from the future that have come to help Meg solve the missing of Mr. Murry. They are the good people trying to defeat the bad. Another example is after school when Meg and Charles Wallace were walking home from school; other kids come by and pick on Charles Wallace for being a weirdo. Meg defends him by fighting the boys and Calvin O’Keefe comes and helps them by breaking up the fight. Charles Wallace shows love because he likes him a lot by inviting Calvin O’Keefe to dinner at the Murry’s House from the quote, “Hey Calvin, Would you come have dinner with us today” (L’Engle 59).
