My cousin friend was on the Ricky Lake Show because her boyfriend cheated on her, by sleeping with her best friend. Talk shows have a traumatic effect on the lives and mental health of their guests and viewers. In the article “Daytime Talk Show Telling,” Evan Imber-Black dictates that talk shows are not helping to solve family issues. The author corroborates my position. First and foremost, the revelation of guests shocking secrets can be devastating. Also, It can cause some people to give up on their lives. Imbers-Black makes a good case about the harmful effects of secrets on guest and viewers. He goes on to explain the embarrassment of the guest secrets. Furthermore, these talk shows are so disrespectful to others and can cause families' lives to be at stake. The audience weakens the guests and the viewers gain great amounts of power. However, the guests that are on stage appears to not be human, but they are treated like animals. Furthermore, it can cause emotional problems, stress, depressions, and suicidal thoughts. Imber-Black assertion on telling a secret is not a cure. He also reinstated that it is a fake therapeutic substance. There is no way for these talk shows to help people heal from their problems. It is impossible to have an hour show to cure issues, such as relationship, family, and personal matters. Many daytime talk shows are all about making money and to gain high ratings. Therefore, many people need to stop watching these unhealthy talk shows. Imber-Black explains that children have become so much effected by hearing their parents' secrets for the first time. Also, these kids have to face shame among other kids in the classroom. Many kids become depress and they can feel belittle When growing up as a child my parents never let me see or hear them argued. However, parents are not being as parents and kids are not being kids anymore.
